The black space is because the game cannot handle the transparency that exists in the TGA file. My only other option was to make it white, which I decided against.

Prehaps I was unclear. I mean making the triangle part of the flag (along with some bits of the stripes) take up the whole flag graphic so that wouldn't be any transparency.

I was in a hurry so I typed in a fast response and missed addressing the other half of your post. Turning the penant sideways to remove the transparancies isn't all that better becuase it would look even more strange flying on the flag poles on the world map.

This is one of those instances where there's no easy solution to satisfy everybody, because I'm fairly certain that other Ohioans would complain about that change.
