You CAN merge mods, but the problem is that some of the mods use different scripts and it requires you to use a source code, making them incompatible with each other. So unless you're a progammer and have the source code for that mod, it's pretty difficult and unwise to merge all the downloaded mods into one module. Otherwise, all you can really do is go to the Forums and politely ask them to merge mods.
Well, NS is petty nice on its own.
