The Khurakan Economy Description
This section is work in progress...

The Khurakan is no longer an empty and desolate place. The system's astonishing views and rich resources have attracted new explorers. As always they have come here for profit.

Mining Factions
Mining factions locate their stations in places attractive to mine. Mining stations need energy to operate, tools to dig and components to fix their equipment. They will gladly pay you for those items. There's extra premium to their value, if the mining station is in remote place. Some of the mining operation sites requires some defensive installations to defend workers from enemies, such as spiders. That means arms and ammo demand for the station.

The mining stations buy ores from you, so you can work as a miner for them and make credits in a simple way. The stations will provide small amounts of fuel to you. They also sell ores so you can transport them to the refinery.

Refining Facions
There's currently one refining company called Interstellar Refining Corporation. Their stations are dedicated to process minerals. They will buy any amount of ores from you and sell their ready product - ingots and gasses. A refinery station requires a lot of energy to operate. That's why they are located mainly in places, where obtaining energy isn't a problem. The most efficient refinery can be found in close proximity to the Khurakan, as their solar panels can be very effective there. The other favorable location is a windy planet such as Jovan, or Crait. You may also find refinery in places, where it's needed near the mining operations, but there's not too much energy to generate. Those stations will require the energy to be delivered to them. They will pay extra for the hydrogen or uranium.

Trading Factions
A trading companies are building their stations mainly near other inhabitats and cosy planets such as Celaeno. They serve as a hub for exchange. They mainly buy ingots and gasses that are transported to local producers. In exchange they get the components, tools, arms and ammo that can be found to buy on almost every station of the trading faction. They often produce components themselves.

Builder Factions
Builder factions specify in the construction of ships, rovers, and other equipment. They buy components used for their operation. They also need some hydrogen, oxygen, uranium and ammo to fill their equipment with. They need tools to build their products as well. Main planets often have both planetary outpost and space stations where you can buy grids.

Mining Services
If you have any mining equipment, you can mine ores for Mining stations for profit. They will buy some of the ores from you if there's enough demand for it. They also provide small ammounts of fuel for you, so you will be able to continue mining. Be careful though, some locations are dangerous for miners (if recomended mods are installed).

Transport Services
You can make credits on arbitrage. You basically buy material or components on one station and sell it to another. If a station sells items in large quantities (one small lg container or more), it means there's a demand for this item and you should find someone buying if for higher price. If an item is sold in small quantities, it means it's not meant for transportation and you will probably have problem to sell it for higher price.

The price a station can pay for an item is based on the 3 main factors:
  1. the cost of production of the component or mining the material. The cost depend on the station location and it's local enviroment.
  2. the distance between the station buying the item and the closest station, that can provide the item. The bigger the distance, the bigger the number of jumps ship has to make, in order to reach the destination.
  3. wether the buying and closest selling station is in space or on planet. The higher the gravity of the planet/moon, the more expensive the item is, as ships has to burn more fuel in orther to carry them.

Khurakan
As the main source of the energy in the system, the Khurakan has a few stations orbiting around it. The ease of obtaining a large amount of energy, makes this location a preferred one for refining factions to locate their stations. The Khurakan orbit is a connection hub to any operations within the Lost Hope, as this is the closest place to the cluster, where you can get ingots and components. The Khurakan emits high radiation in this area, that damages solar panels pretty often, so refinig stations needs components to fix them.

Erebus
You can find all kinds of stations around Erebus, but it is mainly the source of uranium ore. Erebus is relatively close to the Khurakan which makes solar instalation quite effective. It also has some winds, which makes this planet an attractive place for refining companies. On the other hand, Erebus has high gravity and is a challenging place to navigate with rovers, due to the magma lakes. Moreover it's often affected by the magnetic storm, that breaks electronic devices.

Corum
This moon not only has quite high gravity, it also has almost no winds. You can't make much energy with solar panels too, as its often covered with fogs. To make things worse, it's often affected by the Khurakan's magnetic storms. This makes this place unprofitable, when it comes to large scale mining and refining. You will find some trading and builder statons though, that would gladly buy some ingots and components from you.

Ryke
This scorched place has crushing gravity and very high temperatures. It is affected by the magnetic storms too. These harsh conditions mean that mining is limited to only the most valuable raw materials. Ryke has one refining satelite, which takes advantage of abundant solar energy.
