Common Questions
------------------------------ Technical Questions --------------------------------

Q: I have de-sync in coop.

A: Un-sub and re-sub to the mod will fix that. This happens when the mod is updated, but steam does not update the mod to all players --- and re-sub will force this process.



Q: Does AI use this feature?

A: Yes. It is confirmed that AI upgrades their units using the added upgrade. Once rank requirement is satisfied (which is easier on higher-difficulty or with stronger AI mod), it generally happens over next few turns. For example, if you also have RoR submod subscribed, AI army will field multiple RoR of same unit.



Q: The upgrade panel has a button of another race?

A: This happens when there are other mods enabling cross-race units. For example, if you have immortal landmark mod, then you will notice some Kislev & Ogre units on another panel when playing as Empire. This is totally normal.



Q: Part of the UI tab has overlap with other interface?

A: The mod is best run on 1080p (1920*1080) or higher resolution. If you resolution is >= 1080p but still notice UI issue, then reduce the UI scaling, e.g., set in-game UI scaling to no more than 180% for 4K resolution. Alternatively, the Legacy version works for any resolution & vanilla units, but provides very limited compatibility with other warband submods.


Q: I cannot see the upgrade tab for a DLC / modded race?

A: Subscribing to the UI framework may fix this.

Q: Where is my handmaiden / black-guard / black orc / storm-vermin, etc.?

A: All upgrade options in this mod are either explicit in Warhammer lore, or implicitly viable by common sense & gameplay logic. Therefore,
-- The upgraded unit may not be strictly better, since CA's unit design sometimes goes against the lore.
-- Units that are born elite in lore, opposite sex, or built differently, cannot be upgraded into. Such as black orcs, stormvermin, black guards, handmaiden, most artillery and monsters.
Most non-lore upgrade are included in mod compilation submod.



Q: Why chaos upgrade is relatively limited? Why Slaanesh marauder does not upgrade? Why there is a tech requirement but I don't have this tech?

A: This mod does not touch existing WoC upgrade options. So whatever you think missing in chaos upgrade option, is due to CA's design. Checkout Expanded Chaos Upgrade for more chaos options.


Q: Is the upgrade limited by unit limit?

A: The upgrade bypass any unit limit elsewhere. For example, if the unit number is 1, you can upgrade infinitely from low-tier units. Though you cannot recruit more from usual recruiting.



Q: Are RoR units included?

A: They are not in the main mod, because RoR units have unit cap but the upgrade system bypass any such cap. See Compatible Mods for RoR submods.



Q: Is your mod compatible with xx mod? Can you add units from xx mod?

A: It is always compatible, except modded units are not included. I cannot include any modded unit in the main mod, otherwise it will require those mods. See Compatible Mods for submods.



Q: Rank requirement too high / too low?

A: The idea is for player to have access to elite units slightly earlier than building, but not too early. The system is not to replace the building recruitment. Rather, to provide a way for veteran units to promote. After upgrading you typically keep half the rank or more.



Q: After upgrading into a monster unit, it only has a few HP?

A: Yes that is the case for upgrading into any single-entity unit, such as monster and some artillery like sky junk. Just let it replenish back to full HP in your home region.
