The bandits are more aggressive and numerous than in native. If you build a proper army (80+ of tier 3+ soldiers), they should avoid you, no matter how much they are (unless you helped them in a fight, but this is a bug). Early in the game, have a path finder in your team, raise moral and buy horses to put in your inventory (they will carry the items in your inventory), to go faster, try travel by night to be less noticed, and if this isn't enough, avoid this area.

Later on, destroy the hideout or come clean the area often enough. I usually don't bother unless it is in a friendly territory, because bandit parties really damages the clan which have them (bandit damage economy and take apart fleeing/fresh armies of defeated lords).

Well you are after all at their hideout... That would be like complaining there are too many samurai near their own castles. ^_^

Does this actually work? I mean I have heard horses can make your party go faster just by being in your inventory, but how does it work? You need as many horses as you do people in your army, which would be nigh impossible when you get a high amount of troops. Also you said they carry your inventory. Did you mean they in essence make you lighter or that they physically carry your items. If so do you have to click on a horse to access it's inventory?

I know this is a couple years old, but I need answers. ^_^

It's been a long time I have not played the game. I think it is a vanilia mechanic (not particular to Gekokujo). Horses don't have there own inventory, the interface is kept simple here. I think the one per man is the up limit, past which there is no improvement, or not much, could not say. But the difference should be sensible even with less than one horse per man. Also, troops who already have their horse don't need another one.

I am not sure what I meant precisely by "they will carry the items in your inventory", but I think it was a way to explain why, even with less than one horse per man, you still go faster, rather than pointing out at a specific technical detail of the mechanic.

Thanks for the explanation. ^_^
