Hmm.. Because of the curved hull and position of the coilguns There wasn't much space for a hatch in the rear ballast, That means a redesign, I'll see what's possible.
If you move the shuttle to the front dock, the hatch near medbay might suit your disposal needs for now.
I head about into the abyss, it's a popular mod. I gave a little thought for the hot fuel rods - it's why the fuel rod appears on the shelf - can they be cooled by dropping in the reactor pool?
Thanks for the great idea of moving the shuttle, we are all prolly to high to figure that out lol.
In into the abyss the rods starts fires by lying in the open, they can be cooled in water - it takes ages tho, we havent seen one fully cooled down yet. The fuel rods also pose a risk by giving a debuff called "nuclear waste exposure" this happens when you stand too close to a used rod in the open (or holding it, you will die if you do that)
They could defo be dropped to the lower level of the rear ballast tank if you decide thats what you wonna do, but you would have to make a ledge like in the bride at the railgun turret because the used rods do hull damage if they are touching it but we have testet that it does not do damage to floors because i think they are indestructable?
I think by dropping them in the reactor pool they will damage something there but you can make a different ship like the "MP" version and i can test it for you as soon as you say its up.
Anyway we wonna thank you again for your quick responses and hard work, it has made the experience with all the ships we have tried of yours amazing (copperhead, minatour, basilisk ofc and the manta mk5)
EDIT: we just bought he basilisk again on a new save yesterday. we first tested it on a sandbox world and it was playable for him 30-40 frames, we then bought the ship and it was way laggy for him, but that was because all of our items from the minatour was on the ground and we just had to do some sorting, we then did and his frames improved but still not at sandbox frames, we only docked once to left to go to bed. so we havent tested it with all the ♥♥♥♥ we threw out despawned, hopefully itll be better when we load in again. but really thanks for the effort :D
Now the design is stable I'll split the ship into an MP variant again. It's double the work for me otherwise and they fall out of sync.
Performance, I'll do what I can. I've already optimised the lights. (0.40ms) I've got total draw time of 4-5ms (250fps) standing center of sub in the sub editor.
You could ditch the drone, it takes up about 10-20% of the total cycles to give you an idea how trim the basilisk is running. It's simply a big ship with 4,000 parts and the next step will be about compromises and where to start, do we get rid of the auto doors, the mission timer, the hydrophone. There's not much fat to trim sadly.
I'll do what i can to strip parts for the MP version, but I also recommend your friend to start troubleshooting why his FPS is so low in a game like barotrauma - did you check the memory fix?

Yes me and my friend zangarra are quite well versed in pc's, we have been building them ourselves for some time, we have set everything on his pc for performance, in like nvidia and bios yknow. His problem is that his RAM is 1600Mhz max
So i think big ships on perfect frames is out of the possibility for him, so dont focus on pleasing our frame needs anymore haha, you have already done more than whats expected.
Like the empty fuel rods the basilisk spawns with will start a fire
And thank you for the trash shute, its perfect
Ah older memory issues. There it is. I'm going to raise that issue on github, just in case the devs don't know. It really needs attention.
Still I'll do everything I can on my end, I think I can mod in some strip lights that dont need to cast shadows, we'll see. If i can get the cycle time under 2ms for the MP version I will. :)
I'll be about an hour on the MP variant.'s first optimising pass.
Have a good afternoon
edit: tried this?

When you say this, do you mean the manta shuttle or the actual drone out front?
Also the drone gun light is shadow casting which i'm trying to minimise. I gained 25% framerate by running the basilisk without the drone *and* the Manta shuttle. Your results may vary as i don't have the memory bottleneck to compare with.
Stand by on starting that new campaign -
I'm nearly done with an overhaul of the basilisk with the assumption that Wi-FI and logic components take up runtime. It's a major cleanup and i think it'll help your friend.
I dont understand much of wifi and logic but great work :D
