Left 4 Dead 2

Lux's Survivor Legs script

So, I guess this doesn't work in multiplayer?
Since this is a vscript, it most likely doesn't work in multiplayer. I tried it out yesterday but I could only see my legs in local servers or singleplayer. Well, that sucks. :(

Unless it becomes part of the game officially, then no. Not yet.
for it to work in multiplayer, you would have to change every v_model for your weapons. someone did that but its really buggy. like REALLY BUGGY

Not necessarily. If you want to make it work with MP, you have to use Sourcemod and use the .smx plugin instead so you can host a local server with it.

The VScript plugin has the same local server functionality as the Sourcemod plugin.
If you set it up right, you can get either the VScript or Sourcemod version working for multiplayer.

Both versions of this mod work similarly; they just spawn an entity that gets networked to other players.

That's a positive information. Thank you!

So, wait, we can make it work on official servers? Or an I misunderstanding this? Sorry, I'm kinda new to this vscript business.

Anything that involves connecting to a server that is hosted from a different machine will not work.
This means Official Dedicated, Best Available Dedicated, and Steam Group Server lobby options won't work.

Ah, that's a shame. Well, thanks for answering.

what the OP comment meant was to make the legs available in all servers, OFFICIALLY! for that to work, the v_model gun animations all have to be change with the legs included in them.

..and this mod's method is by spawning a duplicate of your survivor model anchored to your camera's yaw+pitch without doing anything else.

Your method:
1.) Derives everyone from using any custom weapons nor survivors.
2.) Animations won't be any close to even this mod's movements.
3.) Is devoid of any polish.

Every single Valve server is vanilla and is as official as possible. You're literally entering one with nothing but cosmetic mods that do not alter the gameplay in any way, shape, or form. And while modifying gun animations to include the legs seem like a sufficient idea, they will never be in the same "quality" as this mod or L4D1's - not to mention how tedious they'll be given the amount of compiling you have to do.
