Ideas For A New Map
Thanks to everyone for playing! - I had a great time making this

If you would like to see more maps like this, post any ideas or suggestions you might have for the future here and I will see about implementing them into something new and fun.

The hammer editor is a scary place all its own, so it's always nice seeing someone having fun with it. I'll offer any ideas I can.
  • Rare car down the main road (May be tricky due to extending into the skybox)
  • Rare and potentially haunted train down the main track (Same issue)
  • Some underground complexes. Always a treat.
  • Breakable windows
  • Something moving in the distant skybox that you could potentially spot from the towers
  • A way to cut the power to the station, killing all the lights :)
  • And probably just a little more general foliage and decoration in the main areas. Not too much, but enough to break up empty space.

Hi Disappointment, thanks for the feedback. I think these are all really good ideas and would have worked very well with the level.
I am thinking of making an entirely new environment/map, but could still use these ideas in a different way. Good ideas either way keep them coming :steamthumbsup:

An asylum or a mall maybe.

I feel like The Librarian's Urbex videos would be a nice source of inspiration, too.

A gas station, or perhaps a trailer park? Anything that can have this feeling of abandonment, honestly. Fantastic work on this map dude, looking forward to what comes next

I do like the gas station idea, it has that same isolated quality of being in an a semi safe area with only the dark road as a potential escape.

Actually, I have another suggestion. This time to find inspiration. That's usually the best way to visualize something similar or new. Look up YouTube videos of "4 A M" or "How it feels at 2 A M" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Look up liminal spaces too. Also, Simon Stalenhag's work is an amazing inspiration.
