Flavor, Map Modifications and Performance
I think decoupling map changes and journal entries would allow for much of an increased performance.

Do you think adding these to game rules it the solution (I am not sure if state changes are possible to add to game rules)? Or to decouple journal entries as a separate (a lightweight version) is better?
