I- New additions:

New Lord - Jade-Blooded Matron
Jade-Blooded Matrons are the vain mistresses of many vampire covens found in Cathay. Deep inside their alluring pavilions of jade, they scheme and plot against, or for, the Dragons themselves.
Matrons are melee specialist lords capable of summoning Fledgling Vampires in battle as well as transforming into a monstrous creature.

Unique unlockable Lord - Ancestor Witch
Ancestor Witches are ancient sorceresses and shamans who once lived during Cathay's age of chaos; a time from when the early civilizations in the orient vied for power before being eventually conquered by Xen Yang and his emerging Celestial Empire.

Ancestor Witches have access to the powerful Lore of Primeval Witchcraft; a self-destructive lore of magic unique in that it costs a portion of the caster's life with each spell cast in return for having to spend far less winds of magic; spells from this lore also cannot be overcast. Ancestor Witches can also summon her ancient people from the grave; the men of Xiang and the cult of Forbidden Ancestors.

The Jade-Blooded Master Warlock now has a new variant that has access to Lore of Vampires.

The Jade-Blooded Vampires also no longer have access to basic Vampire Count lords (However, there is a minor on-going bug where a script break happens and the vampire lords briefly appear on the recruitment pool. A quick close of the window and opening it back again should remove them at once.)

New Hero - Vampire Courtesan
Beautiful and graceful, preserved in undeath. Courtesans of the Jade-Blooded Vampires trace their connections to the Queen of Mysteries herself.

Though lacking in magical prowess compared to their western vampire counterparts, courtesans are still deadly anti-infantry units thanks to their collection of 'Dance's that provide multiple advantages in combat. They are especially adept at dispatching foot infantry and characters.

New Rites Mechanic - BETA
Replacing the Wu-Xing Compass and the Vampire Bloodlines mechanics, the Jade-Blooded Vampires now have a new Rite mechanic.
Curse of the Hanged-Magistrate - Unlocked initially. Boosts growth and public order faction-wide. Worsens diplomatic relations with Cathay.
Curse of the Foreigner - Unlocked after winning 3 battles; either land or minor settlement battles. Increases hero action chance, spreads vampire corruption for all characters, and increases melee attack for all units when in foreign territory.
Curse of the Witching-Moon - Unlocked after construction a Lodestone of Darkness building (Tier 3 Binding circle). Enables a spirit host summmon army ability for all forces, increases replenishment rate for all ethereal units and increases minimum winds of magic.
Curse of the Drowning Woman - Unlocked after reaching Rank 12 with Hei Lianhua/Maiden of the Black Lotus. Allows recruitment of the Ancestor Witch Lord and increases recruit rank of Nu Gui heroes.

There are a few scripting hiccups with regards to this mechanic and will be further improved over time.

Summon Spirits

The selection of summonable units from the Summon Spirits mechanic has been expanded to also include the Starved Marquis, the Accursed Diao Si Gui and the Pale Lady. You can increase their spawn rates by upgrading your province capitals.

II- Balancing changes:

There has been an overhaul throughout the entire roster with regards to stat distribution; now units of a certain unit group/type follow a distinct trend as well as combat role:

Skeletal/Cultist infantry are your sturdy anvil. They tend to be have more leadership and hitpoints per model than the rest of your units. In exchange for low melee attack, they also have higher melee defense. Cultists in particular keep your frontline alive with their passive healing. Vampire units on the other hand like Jiangshi and Blood Lions are your elites, which have good stats all around.

Netherworld Beasts are your shock units. They have very poor melee stats but have the highest charge bonus in your roster, barring cavalry. They also provide numerous debuffs to enemy units to further weaken them.

Hungry Ghost units are now more of a specialist/support role. Your ethereal units have high melee attack, full armor-piercing damage and decent charge bonus but have very low melee defense. They have also received the largest overhaul of all the unit types. Replacing the default undead crumbling mechanics, ethereal units now have the exorcized and banished states. Ethereal units enter the exorcized state when their morale reaches 0 and they start receiving damage over time as well as stat debuffs. Once their morale is shattered beyond recovery, ghost units will explode in a flash of light and will rapidly disintegrate into spectral flames. In exchange for this, comes their new utility, the Induce Heart Attack ability, which deals damage to units on the rout or have broken. Each hungry ghost unit comes with different tiers of the ability, with the normal spirit hosts having the weakest variant while Nu gui and the Pale Lady having the deadliest variant. This makes it so that you can terror rout an enemy army and have your ghosts chase after them, inflicing massive losses from heart attacks.

The Taint of the Black Lotus is also now gone from the roster by default. To unlock it, you must construct the water temple building at Nongchang.

III- Other Notes

This release is technically the mod's semi-final release as I feel I've already accomplished most of what I wanted to do with this mod. I sadly couldn't turn it into a fully seperate race/culture due to technical difficulties but I'm so far satisfied with what's done here. There are some few and minor things that make me reconsider taking away the BETA tag from the title, but as of this update, you can pretty much consider the mod 'complete'. I will continue to further polish the mod in the future but after this, I will be taking another break and hopefully get to working on my Yin-Yin mod, which is long past overdue for a comeback; that is of course if CA doesn't beat me to the punch.

Good luck with Yin-Yin, it was a great mod that I cant play Cathay without :er_uwu:

I hope that Jade-Bloded Vampires can become an independent race with the help of Mixu, and I hope to see the reset Hung while looking forward to Yin-Yin reset. Thank you for your efforts for Warhammer mod!
