Infinite Loading Screen
Good evening! I'm sorry to bother, I'm just super new to all of this. I've recently started playing on Steam Deck/Linux. Every time I try to load in I get stuck on an infinite load screen. I saw a FAQ that says to download Dotnet472?

Would anyone be able to tell me what that means, or help me learn? I'm a super newbie to this, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have ProtonUp-QT downloaded, and also Proton GE, but have no idea how to use them/ if they would help?

These are the instructions from longtomjr on the discord server:
For any future soul that finds this when searching for Linux. The trick to getting dotnet472 installed (i used protontricks) is to run the game once using a pre v5 version of proton. After running the game in steam once, you can install the prefix with protontricks protontricks 261550 dotnet472 and it will work (since you are using an older wine to run the installation). After that is completed (it will take 20 min or so) you should change back to a recent proton version in steam (I am using the latest proton7-GE build) and then run bannerlord. This will start to work (and you might even see performance improvements overall)

Thank you! Would you be able to tell me where to go to run that command?

Would I paste "protontricks 261550 dotnet472" into somewhere I mean?

You run it in your linux terminal, note that you need to have protontricks installed, the installation process depends on the linux distribution you're using

Thank you! I tried typing it into my Konsole(steam deck terminal) and got an error message saying "command not found"

I'm not familiar with steam deck, see the instructions here: https://github.com/Matoking/protontricks#installation
perhaps it'll help

run sudo apt-get install protontricks

Thank you so much you guys, reading through the instructions and running that install command helped. Apparently I installed it to the incorrect path, and the alias wasn't working properly for Protontricks. I appreciate the help!

Unfortunately UIExtenderLib is broken on linux and causes major graphics issues. Thus even with this fix, the mod is unusable on linux

@Finn, you should contact Aragas on this issue. I know he's interested in making the BUTR stack work on Linux.

I finally got Diplomacy working after this! I didn't follow it exactly, but knowing it needed dotnet was a good start. I installed the newest dotnet version from my distro's repository and that was all I needed to do on Manjaro. Thanks so much!

Can you say which version exactly you installed? Did you switch proton back to 4.xx or did you install it with the latest proton?

I _think_ the problem is fixed by some update. I don't wanna reinstall now but maybe somebody can confirm (running proton 7.24)

Recent Diplomacy update fixed a common crash for Linux / mono users that occured on module loading into the game.
