[1.9] Morgenröte - Dawn of Flavor

Happy Birthday, Morgenröte
A year of Morgenröte! On November 18, 2022, the first version of "Dawn of Flavor" was launched on Steam and Paradox Mods - at that time it wasn't even a "1.0 version", but a stripped-down archaeology mod. But it was already announced back then that this mod would also focus on other cultural and scientific aspects of the Victorian era, such as music and aviation. A little later after “Lepsius,” a second update, “Verrier,” was released, which dealt with astronomy.

A lot has happened since then. Here is a list of the projects and their content over the last year:

Lepsius: Archaeology (November/December 2022)
Verrier: Astronomy (December 2022)
Elgar: Music Culture (January/February 2023)
Gaudí: Architecture (March 2023)
Curtiss: Aviation (April/May 2023)
Dubois: Natural History (August/September/October 2023)
Vikelas: Olympic Games, GUI (November 2023)

“Dubois” has become not only the largest, but also the longest and deepest project. Basic mechanics that were previously unconnected have now been combined to form a larger whole, which is also clearly reflected in the new GUI.

The most important change this past year, of course, was that Morgenröte started as a “one man project” and the workforce has doubled. There is honestly no mod as big as Dawn, which was created by only two people on this scale in Victoria 3. Since “Curtiss” came on board, Lord R (Nirual) has made MR what it is known as today. We both share a strong vision of what we want our mod to look like one day and are getting a little closer to it every day.

After this review, now a brief preview of what we plan to do in the future.

Unfortunately, 1.5 is not yet in the form it should be, as evidenced by Paradox's many hotfixes. We have received several reports from players that MR is causing them to crash. So far it has been shown again and again that these are "paradoxical" problems. And the situation is similar with the mod itself: 2.0 is not yet completely in the form that we want it to be.

We are therefore targeting some improvements by 2.1, which will be smaller than usual because a lot of it is internal. So we want to swap many modifiers for state modifiers, something that Lord R is currently working on every day and is a very laborious task. This also includes some improvements to the interface, for example in the zoo.

In terms of content, we will try to add some unfinished features of the existing projects and expand a few things. Personally, I will most likely concentrate on archaeology, Lord R might want to expand the engineers. I could also imagine a few things in the areas of astronomy and sports. After the arduous months of adjustment and the very big changes with “Dubois”, we want to concentrate a little more on ensuring that what we have works and is completed before we jump into the very big cultural project starting next year: We want the cultural sector (music, painting, literature and architecture) to offer just as much and have a similar interface as the academy. This is a very ambitious undertaking that assumes the rest is in order.

We also want to get the localization files for German, French and Spanish in order by the end of the year and hope for active participation from the community, especially native speakers, to support us in this project. But it's not just here: support is welcome, whether with translation or as a beta tester.

With this in mind: thank you very much for your support, for error reports and for praise. We hope you continue to be with us.
