This is just my theory on the apocolyptic nature of this map (take it with a grain of salt though)

I feel like the story of this map goes as follows (Take it with a grain of salt) Yellow Stone volcano erupts generating a VEI 8 eruption. Causing ash to fall around the world. Because of the level of ash in this map I suspect this takes place somewhere in the midwest U.S or Canada. Or result of nuclear war either way.

i cannot decide if i think this map is supposed to be the result of a disaster like that or it is a dreamscape that is beyond anything we can imagine. (good theory though)
