Resetting campaign progress seems to solve this issue for me (go into options -> game -> then press reset but beware this will wipe all campaign progress) and all credit goes to https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/profiles/76561199226106701 for solving this issue! (Do note this will wipe ALL save progress in the games campaign so if possible backup your save).
