- high above the earth essence, i found an altar that seems to speed up the day/night cycle while standing on it. After a while, a note dropped from the sky indicating that a great feat of alchemy at the sun is required to bring back the skyborne
- at the lower left corner of the lukki lair is a cave with runes in the background that spell "offer life", after some time of killing enemies in there 3 runes were spawned, i picked the rune of knowledge and was granted a buff to tinker with wands everywhere for 20 minutes
- inside the secret hiisi base eye room is a note that spells out things required for a conversion, but i'm not sure how to trigger that
- between the desert chasm and the overgrown cavern fun place is a new essence diamond containing the fungal essence, makes you spawn exploding fungus all the time and also seems to trigger shifts randomly? could not ascertain a pattern to it yet - edit: the shifts also seem to include materials, exciting! inside the jungle dragon cavern is a note that mentions using not just materials but also spells for conversion, but i couldn't find a way to make that work yet - edit2: using the essence eater rewards the sienenkivi, which transforms powders into mystery fungus

tried adding the fungus stone while creating a new sun, did not seem to change anything

Found a small meteorite item in the meteor in the snow biome and i have no idea what it's supposed to do, besides drop meteor projectiles everywhere. My mind jumps to the sun quest since i'm doing that right now, but i dunno. Anyone have any ideas?
Update: Unrelated to the meteor, but i found the thing in the mod thumbnail, it's a boss!
It's in the middle of the lowest level of the Sky Work and spams poly projectiles everywhere. It also angers the gods when you crack it out of the shell it's in. It didn't drop anything when i managed to kill it. As above, does anyone know what it's supposed to do?

Bring toxic protection if you decide to blow up anything big in the sunken cavern
Meteorite is related to the sun quest. That's all I'll say.
