ARC9 Weapon Base

ARC9 lags (most likely due to particles)
Today I downloaded the ARC9 PolyArms addon (I think so), it doesn’t lag in my hands, but I want to cry when shooting. I turned off EVERYTHING that could lag, but the game continues to reduce my fps. When firing, smoke comes out of the muzzle, and due to the rate of fire of the guns, the smoke overlaps each other.
If anyone knows, write about a possible solution to the problem. At least give a command to turn off particles in Harris.
Thanks to everyone who read! :steamhappy:

Addition: the console command that disables particles in gmod does not affect the addon

having this too, it makes combat really horrid, especially on a very low end system like what i am running rn

why isn't there a command or option to turn it off?

I think everyone with a low-end PC will have this problem no matter what. Whenever you shoot an ARC9 gun (especially fully automatic ones), the game will lag with varying severity when the projectiles hit something, with hitting NPCs causing the most significant framerate drops. There was an update for the weapon base back in April of last year that optimized most of the code used. While I do think it helped improve the optimization of the weapon base slightly from my perspective, it still has a long way to go before being playable on low-end systems.

Some might say, "You should just upgrade your PC to make it playable," but not everyone has the financial means to do so, especially those living in countries with less valuable currencies than USD.

i get told this a lot of times, and that is very much true

hopefully the Arc9 devs will do some QoL and manage to optimize things a lot

EDIT: maybe i can use ArcCW, see if it isn't as laggy

From my experience, ArcCW is both janky and laggy (the latter is about the same as TFA).

This also happens when shooting into the sky. Still, I hope that the developer optimizes his addon sufficiently.

I installed this addon without having Team Fortress 2 installed and it completely removes the muzzle effect on most of the PolyArms guns that caused my game to drop down to 30FPS when hipfiring, maybe this could help https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3099535158

Thank you for your solution to this problem. Unfortunately, I can't test it, my computer is dead.

I have the following addon installed together with ARC9 base for the sake of visual consistency with the MW Base:

Since you said that by disabling any ARC9 muzzleflash addon will mostly solve the lag issue, I tried the same with the addon above and did some playtesting. It turns out that you're kinda right, the game doesn't lag as much when firing, but I need further playtesting to confirm this.

EDIT: After additional playtesting, even with the aforementioned addon being disabled, the game still lags when firing full-auto guns.

The funny thing is that for me TFA weapons don't lag too much, unlike Arc9 which lags a ton when shooting. (My specs are in my profile if someone's curious, it's not the greatest PC that I have, but it's something)

For me it lags even worse with Gunsmith Reloaded and PolyArms weapons tbh
is it fixed now?

wayyy not quite
i had upgraded with a i7-3770K and a actual GPU, a 1660 Ti and it still kills my frames in some maps
So, the latest update of this mod, which released last week, did improve the performance, but that only applies on optimized maps (e.g. gm_construct). On unoptimized maps, particularly the ones with HDR, it still laggy when firing full auto. Considering the performance issues went away when using it's slow-motion mode, there must be other codes in the shooting mechanic that still yet to be optimized.
