Rain World

Rain World

Sharpener
Is it possible to include a workaround for a native Linux bug?
I would really love to experience Rain World at full resolution with this mod. However, A common bug that Linux players face is the inability to configure mods. This is a well documented bug amongst the Linux community in which the configuration menu is inaccessible for all Workshop (or manually installed) mods. The built-in DLCs still work, but configuring any third party add-ons does not. Since this mod requires configuration to get working, even though I have it installed, it won't do anything yet. The remix menu simply claims that the mod has no configuration options. A mod like Fog & Smog works, as it has no necessary configuration out of the box. Is there a way to have Sharpener enabled by default? Or an alternative method of configuration outside of the game, like a config file? I understand if you wouldn't like to have the mod enabled by default for everybody, but if it can be helped, maybe offer an alternative download somewhere like Github or RainDB in which the mod does not require entering the configuration menu to enable? I'm not sure if what I'm asking for is even possible, but I thought I'd propose it and see <3

Oh, so this is why it doesn't work ! I would love a fix as well
I know this is pretty late but putting "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp=n,b" %command%" as a launch option seems to fix this

Unfortunately, I've already tried it to no avail. I'm glad that you and others found success. I still have a friend who has yet to play Rain World (on Linux) so I'm still hoping the dev responds. They have been silent for a couple months, though, and I couldn't find an alternative way to contact them, like a Discord server. I still haven't completed The Watcher so I would still get value out of the mod if the dev decides to grace us with a solution. Unrelated, but I actually can't even complete The Watcher because of a game-breaking bug that has been documented for months yet still isn't fixed. It's frustrating and I cannot progress past The Watcher's first region until the bug is addressed. Just venting a little. Anyways, I wish you a lovely week filled with kindness <3

I actually gave the devs a solution for this when Downpour got released (the game should reconfigure Wine on startup to make mods work on second launch) and it's in the code, but it doesn't work because they're compiling the game with the wrong Microsoft Registry dll :(

Sadly there's nothing mod authors can do here, other than keep giving people the solution above.

I appreciate your response and I understand! If you'd like me to remove this discussion since it's resolved, I will. Otherwise, I will keep it up in case others are experiencing the same issue and searching for answers. Trans rights <3
is it possible to share a pre-configured config file to skip the config menu entirely? or is the mod not loading properly in the first place?

The mod is not loading at all, yes.

The thing about the Remix menu and the code mod loader (BepInEx) is that the main game isn't actually "aware" of whether code mods have loaded at all. So the game just sees "this mod didn't register an options menu on load", because the mod didn't load at all.
