TOO DARK? HERE HOW TO MAKE MAPS BRIGHTER, QUICKLY
I've seen some players asking for more brightness in some maps, especially nights and corruption.

Althought I don't think they should be brighter because they would lose their feel, I decided to post a guide on how to make them brighter in a quick and easy way so that everyone can do it and have a customized version of the mod.

There are multiple ways to do it:

First of all we need to locate the files related to what atmosphere need to be changed, I put here example on nights and corruption since they are the most requested

-Open mod with RPFM
-Open "Weather" Folder
-Locate intented files: Nights are in those 3:

wh_night_clear_01.environment_group
wh_night_clear_02.environment_group
wh_night_clear_03.environment_group

(ignore the other files called night, they are not)

-Monogod Corruption in those 4:

wh_wastes_kho_01.environment_group
wh_wastes_sla_01.environment_group
wh_wastes_nur_01.environment_group
wh_wastes_tze_01.environment_group

Now you simply right click in each of them, and click "open with external program", then use any text editor.

That said, let's see the multiple methods.

-The first method simply increase the sky brightness, which would make the whole map brighter as a result since the skybox lighting contribute to map illumination.

To do this you need to locate the line "sky_colour_scale='40000.000000' and increase that value.
So, for example. you can try 50000 or 70000 or 100000 for example.

-Second method is to increase the map overall brightness, which is basically like a generic brightness setting that only work for that weather type.

Locate the line <tone_mapping serialise_version='2' brightness='1.30000' " and change that value. For example, you can try 1.4 or 1.5.

-Third method is to use a post processing lut:

Locate the lines 'lut_texture_file='default' and 'lut_texture_file_2='default'.

Replace "default" with 'character_bright_01'

The first lut is for the environment, the second one is for units specifically.

You can change both or only one, as your preferences.

Let me know if you tried!

I used some terrain effects in the first iteration of the mod but I don't use them anymore. Other than that there are no changes made to terrain with corruption, neither are in vanilla

As for the sky color you need to open the wh_wastes_kho_01.environment_group (and also the nur, sla and tze ones) then you have 2 main values for the sky:

-first value is "environment_prefab='prefabs\sky_wastes_kho_01.bmd', you can change the part after prefabs\ with another skybox you can find the names in the prefab folder, they all begin with sky_something.

If you want to see how they look like you can look into skybox\textures folder

-then there is the "sky_colour_scale" which is its intensity. values over 50.000 up to 200.000 are medium to high, value under 50.000 are low although some differ.

-you can also look at the <sun_colour r='1.000000' g='1.0' b='1.0'/> and change rbg values to edit the direct lighting from the sun\moon and its intensity and color.

Hi, how can we disable other climates to use only rain and corruption climates?

I am playing a Boris Ursus campaign and it really is too dark. I know I am playing in the dark chaos north pole wastes, but my eyes are squinted so hard and my gamma at 180%. Every time I look at snow at the map i go blind tho.

The mod is great, but as for me the greatest value comes from not having "pink" or "green" absurd colouring from the sky, it really hurts the eyes. Maybe I'm a boomer. However this mod makes it too dark. I will try some of the things stated here and get back to y'all.
