Phenomenal Mod - Suggestions for features
This is far and away the most impressive thing I have seen done with any mod for any game, and I applaud you. I am completely certain that you intend to add most or all of the following, but I'll suggest them anyways.

Unique projectiles for these weapon categories, with different shades based on the ammo used:
450mm shells
250mm shells
120mm and 100mm shells (They can share the same one)
Plasma
Railgun sabots and Mass Driver shells (They can also share)

Some way to see what a ship is equipped with in the BBR viewer itself, not necessarily the ammo load left, but the weapons on the hull. Tracking ammo left would also be nice, but I can very much live without it.

Clear visual indication of ship damage

Clear indication of which ships are on which team, probably by painting one red vice blue as the ships are now. An indication of which ship is controlled by which player would also be nice. Player name might not be necessary, perhaps team two will have a red player, an orange player, and a yellow player.

Support for modded maps (or at least the most popular ones; the eventual desire by the dev team to add procedural asteroid maps seems like it would require dynamic BBR terrain that'll be able to be applied to any modded map, within reason)

Jammer, illuminator, and long-range OSP radar cones

A way to see who has detected who, or to see from one team's perspective (Almost certainly needs a toggle)

Visible objectives, an indication of which ship is carrying the flag, where the station/capture zones are, how many points each team has scored at this point in the match, etc.

I have no idea how any of this would be added technically, so some of these may seem like pie in the sky requests, or at least too much effort for what you're getting.
