Why the map has been set in the 90 deliberatly ?
Firstly i want to congrats the creator of the map, i love his work and like many others players i was very enthousiast when i saw the first trailer.

My question is in the title, there is many things set during the 90 especially computers or some movie references, why this time particulary ?

Thank you. It's my favorite time period when it comes to music, style, technology.. so I figured why not make maps based around it.
Yeah, I love the 90's too, People are missing out and are clueless, I agree with you Fishke, Don't let the kids keep you down.

Thanks for your response ! It would be very amusing if RP servers using your maps woold make the effort to be at this time period too using the 90s vehicules and deleting the iphone adonn for exemple... For a total immersion. Born myself at the end of the years 1990 i understand the nostalgia and personnaly love the reference to Agent Smith on a advertisement or see the hall of the "secret building" of governement looking similar to the one we see on the orignal Matrix movie. So much suprises on this map ! Same for the tech, there is no more computers in the classic style and it's a pleasure to travel again in a environnement with them. It's like a rediscovery.

Nobody is complaining about the time period the map is set in though, what's the need with attacking young people too?

I love the 90s aesthetic tbh.
It add some unique charm to the map rather then making it a generic NY City thing we've seen 100s of times.

I was born in Early 2000 so I never experienced the 90's but from what I heard from family, it was a rather nice time period. It always get over shadowed by the 80's and Early 2000's so to play a game (Or in this case a map) set in the 90's is nice. Also great map.

well there was also the war on terror during the 2000s, which was morally dubious, but this probably isn't the place do discuss that

people who experienced the 2010s say the 2010s were better, people who experienced the 2000s say the 2000s were better, people who experienced the 1990s say the 1990s were better, and copy+paste the same until you get to the 1950s for people who only enjoy decadence (boomers), and the 1900s otherwise
the world has got consistently worse over the decades since then

nostalgia effect but the 90s were effectively a less pessimistic decade, with the end of the Cold War and of the USSR people were more enthusiastic it was the triumph of the Free World.

Because Manhattan had a better skyline before. Todays skyline is awful. Especally these ugly ass "pencil" skyscrapers that are ruining the skyline. The new "Freedom Tower" also sucks in my opinion. Sry for my broken english. German here
NlGGA'S BURGER 16 Jun, 2023 @ 3:10pm
Probably because:
-2020 New York skyline is ass, looks like a bunch of spikes, instead of what it looked like before
-2001 looked like a warzone
