I've seen plenty of complaints about the objector over the years. There's even a popular mod on gamebanana to make it so decals don't show on the objector. Also, remind yourself that cost isn't an issue for those who want to ruin the game for others.
For me, the objector works because it's a tad difficult to actually see what's on the sign mid-combat. That's not the case with a taunt like this.
Yes, yes. I know. But you know children play this game. If I was a parent, I'd prefer being able to just hit a setting instead of saying my kid can't play the game they like.
i think the big issue is not with the actual images, but with streamers/youtubers and such. an option to disable decals would be important for them.
I played TF2 and accessed the old internet as a child growing up, and I can say the barrage of "hurtful" images did not hinder my growth or make me a degenerate in any way like *some* members of online communities (furries).
Plus, TF2 is an MA15+ game, any content one may be subjected to under that age is entirely against the recommendation... although I will admit the introduction of decals could make any given game potentially R18+ rated. In that case, I understand. If there is an option to turn it off, I wouldn't mind.
The main problem is for streamers and ytbers, imagine getting demonetized or banned on Twitch just because some degenerate slams an image of Furry P*rn or whatever on the deathcam after killing you, yeah, real funny.
And having to rely on mods sucks most of the time. At least when it comes to TF2.
TF2's workshop is useless at this point, you know. Having to rely on external modding websites just to get some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ texture fixes that have been curated on the workshop for years now.
What does it take to implement the damn fixes into the game? Just a few clicks they won't do.
Anyway, thanks for necro-ing the discussion. Really needed to be reminded of a good workshop content that wasn't accepted due to Valve's laziness.
