Left 4 Dead 2

Silent Hill 1 (1/4)
Kyle's Review of "Silent Hill" - 3/5
Unforgettable, but not for everyone. 3/5 stars.

Silent Hill might be the most interesting (and polarizing) 3-star campaign ever made. Thanks to recent updates that added more supplies and a hint system, this was my first time beating it without a guide.

This mod is a complete remake of SH1 from start to finish, so it's at least 3 hours long and full of keys and puzzles. It's hell for some and heaven for others, but it's undeniably unique. The atmosphere is superbly scary, and the extremely thin supplies add to the tension. It's genuinely compelling even though it's not traditional L4D2.

However, it's an uneven experience, with maps varying wildly in both length and difficulty. Sometimes it's so dark you can't see anything outside the cone of your flashlight, which is awful for backtracking without a map. All four of the random finales are underwhelming, too.

But as someone who used to dislike this campaign, I'd say the current version is worth playing. It's much better than it was in 2010.
