Bygone Bethany :The Mage
you use dice to strategize, think of it like dicey dungeons, and place rolled dice on spell cards to attack enemies and bosses
wisps are earned for killing enemies and bosses
20 wisps consumed equals a new dice or a chest or a angel item
starting item "Book of Spells"
Book of Spells is a Active Item that summons spell cards
they're are over 50 spell cards.
spell cards have synergies with items and scale with your stats

I'm not gonna go through all of the gimmicks but rather the classes each would be (or at least the ones I can think of. Isaac, Magdalene, Cain, and Judas already have theirs (Fighter, Cleric, Rogue/Thief, and Wizard respectively).
  • Eve: Warlock (as she loves damaging herself for benefits)
  • Samson: Barbarian (haha Jawbone go brrrrr)
  • Eden: Sorcerer (specifically Wild Magic for obvious reasons)
  • Lilith: Conjurer/Summoner (usually is under Wizard in D&D but is seen as its own thing in other RPGs)
  • Bethany: Sorcerer (Divine Soul) or White Mage
I don't really know what to give ???, Lazarus, Azazel, The Lost, Keeper, and J&E, as they either don't fit within the general parameters or already have their classes taken (e.g. Keeper would also be Thief in some regard).

I have an example
Bygone Golem(Fiend Folio):The Ancient
Has a pocket item called Psychic Stone, which can turn held rock trinkets into familiars.
prism 5 Feb, 2023 @ 1:31pm
Bygone ??? Could be a hex master. ??? has a theme of slow death (asphyxiation) and hexes fit into this concept quite well. Bygone ??? could place cursed stakes on the ground to apply effects and deal damage to enemies standing near said stakes. Items could even synergize with placed stakes. For example, Brimstone could make the stakes apply Brimstone Curse. C-Section could cause enemies close to the stakes to have C-Section shots spew out of their bodies. Ipecac could sicken enemies nearby and give a chance for them to spawn an Ipecac tear on death.

I'm pretty sure that's a silly idea,and a good one too.

Agh, sorry! I didn't notice.

Bygone Judas (The Mage): 1 red heart, 2 soul hearts. normal speed. below average damage.

Pocket Active: Spell Book (8 room charge) (Maybe Different Name)
Spell Book: upon use gives Judas the option to use 1 of 3 spells that effect his attacks for the rest of the floor

Spell 1a (Water) : increased firerate. less shotspeed and range (Instant kill fire obstacles)
Spell 2a (Fire) : small aoe fire tears with a 20% chance to ignite enemies. less firerate
Spell 3a (Electric) : tears chain lightning between eachother (from first to last). less damage

Birthright: Level Up! (Upgrades spells)
Spell 1b (Typhoon) : heavy increased firerate. increased shotspeed. less accuracy
Spell 2b (Inferno) : hold to charge a flamethrower like attack. short range
Spell 3b (Storm) : massive tears that shock nearby enemies. slow tears

Btw the original characters from the flash version each have a class
Isaac: Fighter
Magdalene: Cleric
Cain: Thief
Judas: Mage
Eve: Druid
Samson: Berserker

Modded Stranger: The Homebrewer

Works the same as stranger, but with items (either official or modded) that simulate popular homebrew classes (Blood Hunter, Pugilist, Illrigger etc)

A bit of a stretch, but it could work,
The Forgotten = Monk
Monks are all spiritual and stuff, so that's a way you could work in the spirit, and monks are also generally close range hand-to-hand fighters, which pairs well with The Forgotten's Melee attack.
As for the actual gimmick for the character, I haven't really thought about it.

Based on Dbd Killers
Bygone Tainted Forgotten: The Blight
Bygone Tainted Cain: The Hunter
Bygone Tainted Eden: The Legion
TITAN 6 Jul, 2023 @ 11:50am
The Fighter Archetype: Tears are replaced with Weapons, with all Pedestal Items (or most of them at least) that modify Tears being converted to Weapons.
The Cleric Archetype: Has the ability to heal and harm, armed with a mighty Hammer, and donned with plate mail armor (chance to negate any damage, immune to spikes)
The Barbarian Archetype: Replace Tears with an Axe, can go into Rage (Active that charges via kills)
The Warlock Archetype: Uses a variety of unique Cards, each with set effects.
The Bard Archetype: Works around familiars and improving them. Maybe use Lilith as a base?
Bygone Samael: Losing his roots with the Underworld; The Estranged.

Starts with a new pocket active called Bygone Allegiance, which has a 5 second cooldown and switches him between two types of character. His Faithful form, which has a 1.2 damage up for all Angel items, and his Sinful form, which has a 1.2 damage up for all Devil items.

Both can only accept items from their respective allegiances, and if Sinful enters an Angel room or vice versa, they are kicked out and lose a heart.

Faithful has two Soul Hearts and one Eternal Heart, while Sinful has two Devil Hearts and one Eternal Heart. If one form dies, all enemies in the room get extreme damage dealt to them and Samael shifts to the other form, now having his allegiance permanently with that side. He gains a 1.4 damage up for the respective items rather than a 1.2, and can never shift back to the form he died in. Bygone Allegiance gets removed and a single item that corresponds with their respective form gets dropped.

Both forms share items, and have the same stats.
