I think you have to verify the integrity of the game files (Game Properties/Local Files/Verify Integrity of Game Files) and then it will reinstall missing game files.

Not sure what would be causing this, as all sound files should get removed when you remove the mod. hlvr seems to have some issues with sound files. Try to reinstall the game.

removing the mod didn't work, reinstalling didn't work, and not even erasing my save worked
not like it matters anymore sense a hotfix fixed the issue

Right so it had nothing to do with this mod

they just stopped after i uninstalled the mod, also not all of the sounds are gone, only the explosion, grenade beep, and crossbow reload and shoot sounds are gone, the rest are fine

Have you updated the game? They wrote in the hotfix "fixed missing weapons sounds". Otherwise its literally impossible for this mod to break your sounds after you unsubscribe, uninstall it and verify game files/reinstall. Try to manually delete any vpks in workshop/658920 folder

Even if there isn't anything wrong with the mod's audio replacements, adding audio replacements after your game has generated a sound cache for the audio they're replacing can cause the replacements to break. Try rebuilding the game's sound cache by deleting your sound.cache files or by using the following console command: snd_rebuildaudiocache

snd_rebuildaudiocache doesn't exist

oh
woops
it's one of those commands that get shifted around between every source engine version so its documentation is very spotty haha. after I made that comment I considered loading into Half-Life 2 VR to see if the command was even going to be in its version of the engine but then I thought, "nahhh, it surely is going to be in there"
see if you can find another command under "snd_" in the in-game console that might fit the bill or else you might just have to delete your sound.cache files manually
