At the moment the game runs both the old as the new version of these files. But we expect the new engine can only read the new versions, as we can not imagine SCS renamed and converted those 150.000 files just for the fun of it. Of course this is all speculation, but it kinda makes sense with the information available at the moment.
For us, and all other modders, this means we have to convert these files too. Luckily, only 800 of them are in our mods (ATS & ETS2) instead of 150k. Currently we have converted about 80 of them and are testing them in our Beta version. This because there are no official converting tools (yet) and we all have to do this manually, with a chance of typo's.
After a weekend of testing we are happy to tell these test seems to be working well and we will add them to the public version of the mod step by step in the weeks and months to come. As this a huge amount of (boring) work, it will take all our available time in the near future. We hope you understand this is important for the future of the mod and will have priority above adding new content or small bugfixes.
