Yes sometimes saves can become corrupted. This is a known issue, but the cause is unknown. My guess, it's from a form of a memory leak. This does not happen all the time, but I have noticed some factions it happens more to them than others, for sure Suebi and Syracuse have issues.

That's a pity and a mistery that came with Rome Expanded. It might be an issue with too much information for the game to handle and this engine can't take it?

Be aware! There is a bug with the emergent faction of Ireland. If you play any faction and try to remove the fog of war via boat or character movement it may crash the game!

An example of the crash that occurs every time is if you load an army on a boat, then travel and disembark the army on mainland Ireland all in one turn then it will crash the game.

The cause is unknown.

Work around is to do each step on different turn, for example, load army on boat then end turn. Next travel the boat near shore and end turn, then disembark.
