After multiple tests of trial and error activating and removing mods to find the culprit of being unable to start a new game, I concluded merchant raiders to be causing problems for some reason. No idea why or how, but it is the only mod in your collection which clashes with the addition of the Star Wars mod. Just want to throw it out there, especially if anyone else comes along and has the same problem as me.
EDIT: Ok nvm, sometimes it works with starting a new game, other times it does not. Weird.
It vomits out the error message of "FloatRouletteWheel is empty"
I have seen that error before though. Iirc it has something to do with a spawner wanting to spawn somethingfrom a group, but that group is empty so it has nothing to spawn.
This is one of the errors I encountered during my many hours of testing my mods before release.
At first glance I have no good idea why such an error would occur when this collection is used together with star wars. I can see if I can reproduce the error.
I would be thankful if you could (in the event you run into this error again) paste the full length of the error either in here or in the modding discord (the modding section of the official cosmoteer discord).
It would also help if you could give me a full list of all the mods you used when it crashes (it will also give a full list in the log file).
In the mean time if I manage to reproduce this error, I will let you know what I can find out.
Thank you for this report, much appreciated :)
Anything could help me in narrowing it down.
Where would I find this log file? It isn't based on any save game, neither does the game crash.
The way it happens is I normally sit in the menu, I press "New Game", I select "Galactic Legacy"
Combat Prowess: Recreational Bounty Hunter
Galactic Economy: Freelancer
Holocron Settings:
Sector Scope: Inner Rim Worlds (100) -- This seems to be important as lowering the number drastically decreases the chance of this error occurring from what I saw.
Mind Trick Recruiting: Standard
Everything else unticked
After pressing continue, it takes a minute or two (I am using an SSD), then it spits out that error in a small text box. Pressing "Ok" does not close the game, it just gives me back control over the main menu, being able to try again.

(I tried making a collection but steam is forcing me to use a title image - yet when I try to find one it does not even show any image for selection)
It seems to be the same error with this line being the most important one:
---> System.InvalidOperationException: The specified FloatRouletteWheel is empty.
and it mentioning doodads, which is probably referring to asteroids.
Could you tell me what the tier level of the star system was you were trying to enter? (2-4 or 10-12, etc)
I have thus far not been able to reproduce it yet.
The error keeps pointing at an issue with the game trying to generate asteroids from a table, but the table being empty (hence the error mentioning the -empty- roulette wheel) which can cause such a crash.
Since this error popped up only recently, it may have something to do with some change in the star wars mod and how this change interacts with ETTM or one of my other mods (it has had an update like a day or 2 ago).
I will run another batch of tests later, but I'm expecting visitors and will have little time to do test runs today.
One thing you could do is to disable other mods and then try to start a brand new playthrough. I'd suggest to (as your first attempt) disable MM and all its addons as this is an asteroid mod and the error does point towards something to do with asteroids (my best guess that doesn't include disabling the SW mods).
7-9 , 5-7 , 4-6 and 16-18 did not work. However, one 4-6 system did actually work! Both the 4-6 systems are by the same faction with the one not working having 100% Cofederacy of Independent Systems while the working one has 81%, so I doubt it is based on ships or anything of the likes.
Thanks for the help and suggestion! I'll definitely try disabling those.
One thing if that is anything to go by, though, in my first system I did see gigaroids and I was able to mine them, but I did not find any in the other 3 star systems which worked. I started this playthrough today.
When it comes to megaroids, they worked everywhere, so I am not sure
