Am I the only one who is having issues with sieges?

I have besieged Pella (Macedonia) by sea and land. It should be a large city with walls, etc. But when I start the battle with my fleet, it goes to a small village with no water and my fleet is stuck in the ground and invisible. Now that I think about it, I have only seen small village sieges and I have fought several large city areas.
