Actually no, being able to have both melee and ranged options it's something i was craving from a slugcat for a while already, and i never expected for it to be made so well, dropkicks are an awesome addition along with being able to pogo with them, which its just awesome, having your mobility be also used as an combat option adds so much options, and the adrenaline meter that was added yesterday made it SO much better, rewarding you for being both aggresive and cool it's one of the best things i have seen yet because of the addition of dropkicks and slides it makes combat way more fun by letting you keep up with the increasing difficulty as more creatures spawn in
Now with the recent update, escort not only has added even more options to mobility, it also has been with combat too! Because when you use gourmands thrust in the air you enter in an dropkick state, giving a lot of options for combat when fighting multiple enemies in an more closed space, also the monk projectile art makes it even better than it was before when it had the highground, making it easier to impale enemies with spears while above and allowing you to dropkick them more easily, and the best part of all is that this is all implemented without making escort too op, because you might have all these abilities, but they are nothing without being able to pull them off, you need to be skilled at both combat and movement to not die when fighting anything, and it may be the same with all other slugcats, but the difference is that escort rewards you even more for being skilled with dropkicks, increased speed and damage, being able to fling yourself to the other room, and more, all of this without making it braindead as you still need aim and to predict where you will land to make sure you don't die for using slide stun
Tl;DR this is genius, fun, and not braindead
