Dried Fish Mod
Poltergeist  [developer] 25 Mar, 2023 @ 2:38pm
Mod Details
Steps to dry the fish
  1. Process the fish with salt to get processed fish
  2. Place it to a drying tile container
  3. Let it dry for 4 days

Notes on drying:
  • The drying rack and the nets will dry the fish at the regular speed.
  • The skewer that works on top of a campfire will dry the fish faster when a fire is lit. It only works on top of a campfire at the moment.
  • Fish that dries without a lit campfire has a minor chance to get poison value.

Limitations: all processed and dried fish look the same, compared to the various fresh variants.

Crafting Magazine
Enabled: players need to find and read the magazine to use the mod recipes.
Disabled: players don't need the magazine (duh).

Compatibility
Issues: no known

Container and recipe draw fish from the global fishes tables and have a blacklist for unwanted fish.

Cured 3 fish and all 3 had small green skull next to the icon. Went into the options and changed poison chance to 0, still the same thing, next cured fish was poisoned as well. Is this a bug, or I am missing something? After removing fish from the drying rack, is there another step or fish should be edible (without green skull)? Added this mod to the existing game. Thanks!

This is either a mod compatibility or you use the poison chance setting wrong. The tooltip should be more clear, chance is 1 in X. So you need to increase it, to not get poison fish.

Thanks! I was using the poison chance settings wrong. Changing to 1000 reduced fish poisoning to 0, I was expecting the other way around. Great mod, thank you for making this and I appreciate your reply! Cheers!

Do the fish retain the same nutritional values such as calories?
Soup&Gunpowder 17 Apr, 2023 @ 3:01pm
@Syrup Calories did not display, but I did track hunger. here's what happened with a big pike I caught and smoked.

Big Pike - 109CM, (Fresh Uncooked): Encumbrance 14.11, -106 Hunger
Processed Fish, (Fresh Uncooked): Encumbrance 12.6, -96 Hunger
Dry Fish: Encumbrance 11.43, -86 Hunger

tl;dr retains similar values, but probably not the exact same.

I would use long term survival mod. You can make your own salt. It wont kill the immersion if you are on a low loot run because it will be gated behind finding an empty jar and saw amount other items so you wont be able to make it day one but will be able to make in abundance once established.

How can i change the amount of salt that is used to make a processed fish? It's really hard to find one with my sandbox settings
Dixon 4 Sep, 2023 @ 2:36pm
Hmm, I dried my fish with the campfire skewer and they still have the green poison skull, I have my settings as default, so even dried with fire is there still a chance to get poisoned from eating them? (for example, 1/10 fish are poison by default, are the fire-dried fish still 1/10 poison?) Thanks for a wonderful mod, and please do get back to me when you can. :)
i can't get processed fish
