Left 4 Dead 2

Last Breath Collection
Last Breath - Review by Endless
★★★★ 4/5: A fun and traditional experience in a dead city

Last Breath is a solid collection of four city-themed maps set in a moody night. In typical zombie-city style, you go through a series of different ruined and abandoned settlements across multiple combat scenerios, logically connected through different spots and little intermissions. Each map feels unique enough to help out create their own identity, while also having a cohesive sense of progression.

The maps are very traditional, in both a visual and gameplay sense. They are reminiscent of No Mercy and Dead Air, set entirely between a city that has been overrun by the infected. Very simple but well realized, the author shows some solid skills with the level of detailing and geometry. While there's nothing particularly awesome about it, it is pretty damn compelling and well designed.

The gameplay is a bombastic combination of crescendo events in tight spaces and dangerous situations. The first maps tend to feel a little too long, more than necessary, but it soons balances it out with the diferent variation in style and challenge that is present. The last map in particular is a very enjoyable and fun experience that's filled with hordes of zombies, while still being more than doable, if a little harder than your average map.

A very fun and solid campaign that does its own thing very well.
