The amount of times I clicked OUT of the menu had me at first assuming it was broke before after a few runs I finally just actually used my eyes and noticed it outright says M1 and M2 exit the menu and realized I was being a REEEE.
It works all of the time for me WHEN IN SOLO. However when playing CO-OP I have run into the issue of the non-host sometimes losing the ability to remove cards and that as far as I know there isn't a fix for that after the fact, but personally when I play with friends we just have whoever is hosting grab any curses and do the spinning of the fortune wheel in case any curses come up in it so that we know they can always be removed.
If you are never able to remove cards when playing SOLO then I have not been able to replicate this issue at all and thus cannot help, sorry.
