The reward for slaying the balrog
I miraculously did it first try (21%), and all I got was some lousy renown that the oh-so-wise king Thorin II promptly threw into the subpar dwarven legacy instead of the super useful Kin, the kingdom of moria (that I could easily do myself, now that the balrog was gone) and a pat on the back.

No unique nickname.

No Maia trophy for my throne room.

Nothing.

My man Balin is going to be forever remembered as "the Kind" instead of "Avenger of Durin" or something appropriate despite slaying a literal demigod.

I demand justice for Balin in the form of a badass nickname.

Still good to give the devs pointers on what players want

They could make it so it has some kind of permanent dynasty modifier like the "strong blood" modifier

The best reward for slaying the Balrog is slaying the Balrog and being able to develop Khazad-Dum.

New to the Beta. Is it not going to be a character in this mod? That's a shame, I recall one mod in the past, not sure if it was related to this one, where it was a character you could play as or defeat.

Perhaps one day it can be a character, and then when defeated from the map (unlanded), you can hunt it down in its lair.

My reasoning is in these games I like playing as a monster hunter, having that as a background objective, is why I enjoyed Princes of Darkness so much, or the old D&D mods before it in CK2. That or I play as a monster and eliminate powerful rivals.
