A couple of months back I wrote down this idea for when .42 releases and I get back into PZ - figure it would be perfect companion for this mod!

I never got around to flesh out the high level design of it - but the brief pitch I wrote down was: Dress for the occasion; attribute a small XP boost for profession/skill relevant clothes.

This is probably better suited as a standalone mod, since Comfy Sleeping only affects sleep and has no effects during the daytime.

Make Plushie items placed over the bed tiles provide a bonus to Comfort.

That would help achieving the extra Comfort level you mentioned adding.
As for the benefits of that and further comfort levels, I'd say they could reduce boredom, and help with unhappiness, but high anxiaty levels should interfere with you trying to sleep.

I think for the most part Im throwing away the additional comfort level. The default numbers for comfort would have to be tweaked a good bit for it to make sense to have a higher level.

Pillows giving a comfort boost is something I’d like to implement in the future however, along with weapons affecting comfort.

Nice mod! There's a wetComfyMod, but is there one for cleanliness? something like dirtyComfyModifier / bloodyComfyModifier?

Thank you!

There is not no. The wetComfyMod applies to specifically the characters 'wetness' moodle, not specifically tied to how wet the clothes themselves are.

hmm, how about a trait?
people who can literally just sleep anywhere and can even find some comfort in being uncomfy
or people who need their night routine before bed or their whole rest is in shatters

I've thought about adding traits, but I'm not sure what their effects would be.

I don't want to add one that makes sleeping anywhere a-ok because that kinda just removes the point of the mod.

Here are some ideas:
Pajamas/Sleepwear: Special clothing with high insulation and no combat benefits that increases comfort when worn.
Plushes increase comfort when held: self explanatory.
Deep Sleeper trait: Disables waking up from low comfort if that mechanic is enabled.
Relaxed trait: Comfort decreases half as easily.
Tense trait: Comfort decreases twice as easily.

Pajamas & Sleepwear
I have 0 clue how to do modelling or add new items, so this would have to end up being on the players end to just put together a comfortable outfit.

Plushies
I thought about this when implementing pillows, the code to handle them is already there for the most part at least if they're placed, I'd just have to tweak it and this is should be possible. I'll add it to the potential features section.

Traits
These I would have to think of more. I'm not entire sure how to implement them, but if it's as simple as moodles, then it shouldn't be too difficult. I just don't know exactly what the positive/negative traits would do. Something simple like your example would be super easy to implement in terms of the code though. No guarentee's on the traits, but I'll look more into them at some point.

Appreciate the thoughts, and hope you're enjoying the mod!

what do you think of making the act of trying to fall asleep a mechanic? would it be possible to implement "time to" and "chance of" falling asleep values? those values would be affected by the bed quality, the comfort of the character, if it has blankets (support for blanket mod?) or sheets on it (maybe using the same method as the pillows) and the character's sleep-related traits, if traits end up being added that is. on the topic of traits, the game cataclysm:dda has sleep-related traits that i think would be a very good match for this mod. cdda's character creation point economy uses smaller values than zomboid, so the point costs may need tweaking.

ps: i believe that profession framework allows for traits to be added and configured.

Potentially, Im not 100% sure how it would be done but I'll take a look and do some digging.

It could be interesting to have a way for the mod to 'neutralize' itself so to speak if the a character is a hardened survivor. Like if you have the Desensitized trait you can only get ok or bad sleeping, removing the bonuses but also the worst of the negatives.

If I decide to implement traits, this is likely what one of them would be.

Make a way for your characters to get used to sleeping in bad conditions over time, not really talking about sleeping with gear (maybe though), but more about sleeping on some random chair and not having to wake up drowsy and moderately exerted .
