Mod Mechanics & Explanation
As you probably have an idea by now, this mod allows you to tame and breed frogs. This discussion covers the exact mechanics of the mod

  • Frogs are no longer defined as food. Instead, they are defined as animals.
  • That also means you can no longer directly eat frogs, and must slice them up first.
  • When you find a frog for the first time, the frog is assigned to a random sex (Male/Female). You can tame that frog using insects, mouses, or rats.
  • You have a 60% chance to successfully tame a frog. If you succeed, you are prompted to name it.
  • Whether or not you successfully tame the frog, any tame attempts will refill the frog's hunger. Tamed/wild frogs will go through 6 levels of hunger. If not fed for more than 350 hours, the frog will die of starvation. This can be turned off in sandbox settings. The hunger system works the same for both wild and tamed frogs.
  • Tamed frogs can be fed once every 24 hours.
  • Tamed frogs can be used to breed more frogs.
  • In order to breed frogs, you must build a frogshire pond.
  • Frogshire ponds can be built using 15 stones and 2 water buckets.
  • In order to use the pond, you can a female and male frogs to it, and then start the breeding process.
  • The breeding process will take 15 in-game days. You don't have to worry about the frogs' hunger while in the pond, as the pond naturally contains organisms for them feed on.
  • Removing frogs during the breeding process will interrupt it.
  • After 15 days, you can withdraw the offspring. It will be tamed by default, and will show who the parents are.
  • Each frogshire has a cooldown on breeding of 15 days. However, you can use the same frogs to breed them in another frogshire.
  • You can also keep one male and one female in the frogshire without having to necessarily breed them. This will make sure they're always fed!
