For me, he feels nearly unplayable, I'll get a good item, it starts rotting, and there just seems to be nothing I can do. I've been able to fenangle my way into it not rotting, but the cost is so monumental that it's just not worth it.
I think a "lock in" mechanic where you can use an overcharged dice to prevent an item from rotting would solve his issues.
Isaac isn't a character who's core mechanic revolves around constantly adjusting your strategy, it's a "customize your build" character, but if that customization just disappears periodically, he's lost all identity and fun.
