do you know how i could post the excel file?
Let me know what you all think.
First of all, rock's and other objects have a VERY high chance of being replaced with poop.
Naturally spawning poop can be of all varieties seen in tainted bb's arsenal, and even some new varieties for that extra spice. Destroying poop has a chance to drop a poop pickup corresponding the poop that was destroyed. These poop pickups also randomly replace ALL pickups and comsumables, not just bombs unlike tainted bb.
They can be used, much like tainted cain, to craft special buffs in a tiny menu. Since it is buffs and not items, you don't have to think much about synergies between the buffs and picked up items, and more about the synergies between the poop pickups themselves.
My idea is the combination of 2 poops (or 3 if youre very ambitious) to create 1 buff. Every poop pickup could have their own "theme" in the buff. For example here's my ideas for what each could represent if we DON'T add new poops:
With this in mind, here's some ideas for plausable combinations just so yall get what I mean:
red + red = spawns 1 of each type of heart
red + rainbow = +2 health up
red + brown = spawn a few red hearts
red + corn = spawn red chest
red + flaming = phantom pain on character 2 times, and charges active item like sharp plug.
red + stinky = spawns a rotten heart
red + black = enemies that die the next few seconds drop half a black heart that vanishes
red + white = grant a holy mantle effect for room and spawns eternal heart
red + stone = bleed all enemies
flaming + white = uses active item for free
corn + (any other poop) = spawns different types of consumables depending on poop
Rainbow + brown = spawns an item from the current item pool
Rainbow + rainbow = death certificate?
rainbow + black = explosion of poop in a room dealing massive damage
Stinky + black = spawns tear creep underneath all enemies (this is one of the few effects that actually could change depending on items, i.e creep turns into different creep like aquarius)
With all of this said, I also think tarn bb should have an unlockable that makes it so normal poops can be replaced with special poops, and that obstacles has a chance to be replaced with poop (without the whole poop pickup part ofc). We don't see enough of the unique poops in the game imo.
I'm just gonna describe what I imagine:
After starting a run with tarnished lazarus, an animations plays where a nervous looking lazarus splits apart and one part of him gets placed somewhere on the map. You obviously start in the first room, move to the next room, and when clearing a room full of enemies, you take control of the other character, then rinse and repeat. Unlike Dante though, you do get visibility of both characters on the map at the same time, and get to map out the floor with both simultanously. This is because both halves of Tarnished Lazarus DON'T want to meet. If they do, the player takes control of the least powerful character (based on stats and items), and have to fight the other character. If the player lose, its game over. If the player wins, they have to quickly enter the next floor within a time limit, or it's game over. Once the player reaches the next floor, the dying half will be revived in a random room with half a heart. The same happens if one character dies apart from the other. With the remaining character you have to enter the next floor. If you enter the room where the other half is dying, you take control of the dying part and the alive part of lazarus kills the player.
This sort of gameplay allows for a ton of strategizing with each character's placement on every floor. The map becomes SUPER important, and there's a real risk of getting half-softlocked by literally being locked in by your other half (if one half spawns in a dead end and the other half is very close by it could happen). To prevent this potential soft lock, I'd make every floor that tarnished lazarus is in, an XL floor.
There's still complications such as the hush chapter, which could be fixed by adding a few rooms onto the hush stage. I'm not sure if it's possible though.
The upside of this very different way of playing, is simply granting unique special rooms for each character. That means, each half gets their own version of treasure room, shop, curse room, secret room, etc. With all floors being XL floors, that means the first floor of each run, there is technically 4 treasure rooms, despite half of the items getting split to each character.
It also means 2 shops and 2 devil/angel deals, which allows for shenanigans I'm sure. Since it's still the same floor they are on, it's possible to gift each half trinkets or consumables. Just remember that they can't meet, or else they'll fight.
Since curse of amnesia, curse of the maze and curse of the labyrinth very heavily effect tarn laz's gameplay, I think it would be cool for some of his unlocks to play with the curses of the game. Other than that, of course there's gonna be a lot of splitting thematics in his items. Maybe an item that duplicates every familiar, but halves their damage/effect.
In a way, this concept might fit better for tarnished Jacob & Esau, since sibling rivalry is more their thing, but this is the best way I can see lazarus further splitting being implemented.
visually, entire head becomes a void like spiral.
Starts with 6 charge pocket item called something like "Seal of the abolished", that visually reforms apollyons head and closes the void spiral completely.
Normally, picking up any item consumes them into a special pool of saved items and doesn't grant their effect. If using the pocket item, apollyon closes their head and can pick up items as normal, but only for the room.
At the start of every chapter except for the beginning of the run, you get sent to a special "in between plane", that is the abyss itself. The entire floor have the illusion of being infinite, if that is possible. No walls, just floor, and walking in one direction will always be available. (if this isn't possible, the it can just be a very big floor, like the delirium chapter).
While walking around this floor, you have a random chance to stumble into a couple of things:
another of same rarity. (or just be upgraded in rarity).
Maybe a chance for a void portal to spawn that takes you directly to the delirium floor? Or
a small chance to see another playable character, rummaging around the void, shooting
enemies maybe picking up one of your items before disappearing? If killed it could drop a
ton of loot? (just throwing ideas at the wall at this point).
While in the plane in between, the pocket item will be changed to something called "abyssal extraction" or simply just "escape", and it takes you out of the realm and to the next floor.
While the illusion of the floor being infinite should be in affect, there should be a reason not to linger in there. We don't want someone to stay on the floor forever and get infinitely strong.
My idea is a gradual curse of darkness that slowly consumes the character and reduces vision. If you let it consume you completely, you "get lost in the void and never return", but if you manage to jump out beforehand, you reach the next floor.
Because Tarn. Apollyon has to walk around more, he should start with higher base movement speed, and because he has to clear the first floor without items, he could benefit from slightly higher base stats, with maybe a X0.95 multiplier to all stats? but idk if thats necessary. Depends on the balancing.
Unlock method could involve entering this in between plane with tainted apollyon. Either by abyssing a certain combination of items, or going to the void floor and maybe a special room spawns there.
It would be cool with an unlockable item that makes use of this void floor in some way, so other characters can experience being stuck in an endless abyss.
I personally REALLY like this Tarnished Apollyon concept.
