The Gambler's Cheating & Helping Chances

The Gambler will have a chance to cheat against you by checking the next card in the deck and skipping it if it would be detrimental to him or beneficial to you, as well as a chance to help you the opposite way. This check happens for every card dealt.

Cheating and Helping percentages over 100% will guarantee that The Gambler will check the next card and skip it if it's bad. The check will continue, subtracting 100% after each successful check until no percentage chance remains. As an example, a cheat percentage of 160% will guarantee that The Gambler will check the top card. If it's bad, he will skip it and have a 60% chance to check the next top card.

The Gambler cheating in his favor and cheating in the player's favor aren't mutually exclusive. A Cheat % of 20% and a Help % of 40% would mean The Gambler will have a 20% chance to try to cheat against the player and then a 40% chance to help them on the same card deal.

Having any of these Support Abilities equipped on your active character (and only them, for a max of 3 of these) will affect the cheat or help percentages in the listed way. Keep in mind that positive Cheat % means The Gambler will cheat more often, whereas negative Cheat % only has an effect if other factors have increased the Cheat %, such as combat difficulty or another Support Ability.

Percentages that when added together would be less than 0% will act as if it was 0%. Having Pure Mind (+20% Help), Rivalry (-15%) and Revel (-15%) equipped would equal 0% Help on Veteran difficulty.

Want The Gambler to Always Cheat?

You are able to set The Gambler's chances to cheat or help the player before you play a game with him. Open the console window with Shift + `~ and type set FBJ_cheater (% amount) or set FBJ_helpful (% amount) and hit enter to alter the percentage for that round of play. These values are reset after you stop playing and will have to be re-entered the next time you play.

Want to (almost) always win? Use set FBJ_helpful 5200
Want to (almost) always lose? Use set FBJ_cheater 5200
