That would give a single large block a capacity of 23.4375 MWh and an input and output rate of 1.5625 MW. The vanilla batteries got 4 MWh capacity and 2.5 MW rates.
Those values would get lineary scaled by block volume.
The balance from small to large blocks should also be linear in my opinion as i am no big fan of the increased performance from small blocks.
That would make them a great counterpart to the SuperCaps Eikester and me just released

looking forward to see more good stuff from you <3
as far as performance is concerned i woould just like them to have at least as much power as the default ones because while i like the increased output at the same cost in power cells i can get over 3x the power capacity. power output from batteries hasnt effected me as much as other people. i just build alot of battery banks onto my larger ship.
Cost-wise it's a little more efficient to build two of these than an Arc Cell or a stock battery (which seriously suck for how big they are), but it's not as compact, which balances out that aspect, imho.
Got that, thanks. And what about large one?
This was all in creative.
Size = 2x1 large Blocks
Energy Storage Capacity = 2MWh
Max Input = 6MW
Max Output = 6MW
Time to full recharge at Max = 20min
Time to full recharge at 5MW* = 24min
Cost;
* 25 Computers
* 240 Powercells
* 10 Metal grids
* 40 Construction Componants
* 100 Steel plates
Battery Array (2 Batteries):
Size = 2x1 large Blocks
Energy Storage Capacity = 2MWh
Max Input = 8MW
Max Output = 8MW
Time to full recharge at Max = 15min
Time to full recharge at 5MW* = 24min
Cost;
* 50 Computers
* 240 Powercells
* 10 Metal grids
* 60 Construction Componants
* 160 Steel plates
*This is the output of a single Large Ship Small Reactor
1x1x2 large block:
- Capacity: 46.875 MWh (7.8125 multiplier vs large block vanilla batteries)
-- currently: 2 MWh
- Rates: 3.125 MW (2.56 divider vs large block vanilla batteries)
-- currently: 6 MW
2x2x1 small block
- Capacity: 750 kWh (2.34375 multipler vs small block vanilla batteries)
-- currently: 180 kWh
- Rates: 50 kW (1.6 divider vs small block batteries)
-- currently: 500 kW
That would make these batters an overall more longlasting version aswell as properly balance the small and large blocks without giving any of them an advantage over the other like it is right now (both in the current mods version aswell as in the vanilla blocks).
In addition the betteries would be in line with what tech we currently have and not be "cut down" as it is right now.
It would be quite a sad and hostile world if we would call everything "promote" just because a link gets dropped for reference.
If Darth would ask to remove the link in my post at the top, i would do that. But as he didnt communicate such a thing i can only assume that he has no issue with it.
As sidenote, that is actually quite offtopic and doesnt belong here imo. It doesnt refer to the actual balance at all. Hence why this is the only reply to that matter.
P.s. if you want calculate ballance, use point system, it will good aplies to this game.
Large ones I can't really comment on, because I don't plan on building a large ship that can run off of batteries as it's main power source (so their use to me is reduced - however I might build them in as a backup power supply). However, judging from DMMWolf's test, it looks like you might need to increase the build cost just a smidge while leaving everything else alone.
I also strongly disagree with everything y2k says. His "balance" changes would effectively neuter the usefulness of these blocks unless you build ridiculously large banks of them, which inherrently nullifies any benefits of using them in the first place.
There is still some level of realism that should be preserved to not drift into Sci-Fi and comparisons with other mods (looks at the 1GW battery and alike) may not be the best method to gain balance. But of course that depends on your definition of what balance actually is.
That said, when you build ridiculously large thruster banks, you simply need ridiculously large battery banks and not a few overpowered.
You simply shouldnt forget what the actual power demand for certain blocks is. Whopping 6.72 MW for a single large thruster aint nothing.
However with two of my suggested batteries you would run such a large thruster for 15 hours.
For other comparisons:
- two large battery would run 11 refineries / assembler / small thruster for 15 hours or one for 166 hours
- one large battery would run 5 artificial mass blocks for 15 hours or one for almost 78 hours
And that is it, except the gravity generators you dont have any other powerhungry block. The others consume 10 kW and less.
So with a single large battery you could also run over 300 devices consuming 10 kW.
To me that sounds pretty balanced.
And if you still want more powerfull batteries, then i can only say that i have to strongly disagree with your and your version of balance and i had to refer back to my introductory paragraph.
