Though it is important to note that the dlc is not finished yet. They released it prematurely and there is going to be a huge update later adding more content, collectibles, etc. Though honestly even in its unfinished state I would say it is more than worth $15 with how many creatures, regions, and songs it adds.
I think the Watcher version of this region is canonically NOT part of 5P's compound. I think those portals connect not just different points in time, but also different places across the world. The Watcher version could be 4,000 miles away from Shoreline. I assume that's why there are no gates connecting any of those regions to vanilla regions.
The Watcher versions of this region also have different internal acronyms (WSKA / WSKB / WSKC / WSKD, as opposed to this mod which is just SK), so you should be able to to have this mod and the Watcher DLC installed at the the same time.
So in general, this mod is for the Vanilla + Downpour slugcats (and probably all current modded slugcats), and The Watcher version is just intended for well, The Watcher.
I'm not allowed to use the watcher assets or changes to Stormy Coast in the mod version; but nothing is stopping other modders from trying to wrangle those regions into something that non-watcher slugcats can play through. It will be funny to have two stormy coasts floating around tho.
IMO the ideal situation would be if someone integrated the new watcher only locations into the base game + downpour, and then the new areas would be updated for the new game version and be integrated as well, so eventually we'd have one huge overworld for all of the slugcats. Except watcher who's stuck with the portals and the rot. Though who knows what changes the upcoming updates will bring! I'm excited, anyway.
Maybe the update will reintegrate lore pearls into the regions in the watcher that we can give to the Rot Prince (since he's basically made out of cancerous iterator cells that have reformed into a 'puppet' anyway). He's such a fun guy. Unlikely, since I think they're going for a more hands off approach to lore in this dlc, but it's a nice idea.
