Report a translation problem
A couple generic axis buffs that would be nice
- The lefh 18 could get a fireate buff as currently it's still really slow to shoot being more like a 150mm+ gun then a 100mm one. Reducing the reload time so it's about 6-7 RPM would be a nice thing to see at least (also helps the Wespe)
- Panzer IVs could mostly afford to drop by 5 points each as their is so much more heavy armor that can dumpster them
- The regular T-34-42 could probably also drop 5 points for similar reasons to the Pz4
- The Tiger I is a lot less appealing and could probably get a tiny buff. If it's firerate was raised to 6RPM it would be closer to the Panther which would be nice.
- Allow the Type 95 Daruma transport carry Type 1 37mm and Type 1 47mm AT guns so they can ride in 80kmh trucks. Being stuck in 70kmh sucks for light AT guns and this would be a nice tweak to Japanese division
-The Ki 100 planes should be bad resilience as very bad is just so unusable for bombers and fighters. It makes them to weak to ever be taken. At least make them bad but honestly medium would put them on par with most other high end fighters.
- It feels a bit weird for the Japanese that the 4th Tank Division has strictly better versions of the lunge mine unit. Unless the singluar model has the health of 4 I think it could be nice to have the 4 man version appear in the other 2 divisions as a more reliable unit.
Festung Berlin - Overall a cool mish mash of many different units and mostly has solid general tabs however a lack of CQC infantry and limited indirect/air options feels like it really brings down the division. If these could be changed a bit it would be very nice. Addressing the CQC stuff is the most important but here are some extra ideas as well
- Volks Stosstrupp get a molotov to better fight in close range
- Add a card of any Panzer Pioneer from the vanilla 1st SS (or honestly just any other TNT/Flamer would give the division enough CQC)
- Reduce the cost of the last couple Infantry tab slots by 1 each (Making it 1/1/1/1/1/1/1/2/2/2) so it's easier to fill out with infantry. Currently it's a shame so many unique units don't get taken because it's to expensive to do so
- Add a card of captured soviet 152mm howitzers. Historically some of these were kicking around Berlin under the Volksartillerie units and having another card of bigger arty would give the division some heavier indirect punch
- Move the Panzer IVJ from the tank tab to the recon tab as currently the recon tab is very sparse despite having 5 slots (could also add some armored cards or whatever)
- Allow the Pak 40s in Phase A so you can run the Pak 43 later on. Just an awkward thing with the AT of this division atm
- Mostly a flavor thing but a card of Tiger Is could be added seeing that Panzer Divsion Muchenberg had them alongside their Tiger 2s. If allowed in all phases could actually be nice as another tank card for Phase C beyond the king tigers.
7th SS Gebrigsjager - Seeing as it's the counter part to Tito's Partisans it's suffering from limited AT options that makes it very hard to use against other armor decks.
- Add x1-2 cards of AT planes for heavier tank busting (This could be Stuka G2s, Me 410s, or whatever else is feasibly around)
- Buff the jerrycan bomb with faster throwing time or more power as currently it's just a worse satchel which sucks as it's the main CQC tool for this division
- Lower the cost of the tank tab at least making the first 3 cost slot a 2 instead. The tanks in 7th Grebigs aren't exactly super powerful and the more capable ones are limited in number. It feels like half the tab is completely worthless because spending 3 AP for some S35s or regular T34s isn't really worth it. At least another 2 cost slot would help although more cost reductions would be bad either.
- Combine the FT-17 into a single card. With how much of a meme these things are it honestly would be funny to just have all of them a single card to include in the tank tab. This could either be legit 20 in Phase A or something like 10/20/-
- If possible another card of Pak 40s or any heavier AT gun would be lovely for this division to assist the handful of other heavier AT options (preferably something that can at least handle up to like heavier tanks like Panthers and such)
Kampfgruppe Bayerlin - This is clearly a team game division but I think it's just overtuned with how slot efficient it is having almost everything you could want. I think it needs to see a couple adjustments to it's AT and Air tab to limit how many heavy hitting units it can bring without committing hard to that tab.
- Change Jagdtiger availability to -/1/2 and double the number of cards. This is probably the biggest change since currently Bayerlin can just take way to many jagdtigers for how few cards they have to take
- Adjust the Ar 234 bombers so there are lower numbers of them. Like the 500KG bomb to -/2/3, the 1000kg bomb to -/1/2, and the 500KG + 1000KG to like -/-/2. Limiting the amount of bombers taken would make them harder to spam or at least only spammable in the late game. Something like this would be good though as the division has so much else going for it already that it doesn't need super jet spam.
- Allow the Stuka bombers in Phase A as they have no point in B or later due to the arado and me262 bombers.
7th Fallschrimjager - Just 2 tiny suggestions
- The Do 335 A1 bomber is very good but probably could be combined into 1 card with 1/2 availbility. Me262s, Hellcats, and other fast fighter bombers have this curve and are fine.
- A card of heavy 120mm mortars would be nice if possible (preferably the Fsj version with a radio on it). Some heavier mortars would support the nebelwerfers and Gebh 105mm so this division has more options for artillery
84th Infantry Division - Mostly fine but a couple small unit suggestions
- Sicherungs could be 15 point seeing how bad the Chachuat is. Currently just to expensive to even spam which is needed for them to do much
- PAW 600 could probably benefit from like 10 more HEAT tounds and removing 10 HE shells (so 20 of each). Just runs out of AT rounds quickly which is annoying for an AT gun
Dai Hyakukya Shidan (109th DIvision or the Iwo Jima one) - As a Japanese division it's obviously been given almost anything that can be tank buster. They play quite different then German divisions so this is a list of things that is just meant to clean the division up a bit
- Type 95 Ha Go could be 15 points seeing that it can only engage like halftracks and is otherwise very weak
- The last tank slot could be 1 cost seeing how limited the tanks are as filling that slot is pretty underwhelming for 2 AP.
- Reduce the cost of the AA tab a bit. Let it have like 4-5 one cost slots so it can fit more AA guns to use as AT options as well
- Add a card of Type 96 15cm Howitzers as a couple were located on Iwo Jima and this would give another good AT/heavy arty option seeing as the division lacks something heavy for counter-battery
- Allow the B5N2 bomber in Phase A as by Phase B they are to slow and lack the punch to do anything.
Dai Gojunana Shidan (57th Division) - I think could use a tiny bit of work as this is a fairly capable division but has a couple things I think could be fine tuned.
- Move 1 card of the Type 90 Howitzer from Arty to the AT tab. With so much other arty instead having more medium AT guns would help smooth out AT concerns the division can have.
- Adjust the tank tab to be 1/1/1/1/2/2 (adding another 1 cost slot and adjusting costs elsewhere). Currently this division has a lot of very cheap tank spam but lacks the slots to do so and adjusting it like this would allow the division to actually swarm with it's crappy tanks.
Will do allies in a part 2
Overall this list is gonna be a little shorter and contain probably a few more nerfs as I think in general the Allied divisions (mainly US) are to well rounded and just have kinda everything they could ever want. It feels like they could brought down a peg and still be extremely strong. Of course there will still be some suggested buffs as well
General allied suggestions
- M26 Pershing is quite close performance wise with the IS2 and other similar caliber tanks. I generally think it's a bit to numerous with it's current 2/4/6 availability and would be better to follow the IS2 and King Tiger curves of 1/2/4. This is a fairly large change but I think with how this still will smash anything that isn't a king tiger or similar it should be fine as a very potent heavy tank. You could easily increase the number of cards to maintain the same overall amount just harder to have a ton without serious AP investment.
- Chaffee could be more like 45-50 points seeing that it it fairly comparable to the AEC
11th Armored - Mostly fine as a well rounded tank division with a couple tweaks
- The Challenger is undercosted for packing APCR and being recon all for 85 points. For reference the achilles is 20 points more with no recon trait. I think they could probably lose the APCR and still be fine seeing they are self spotting 17pdr tanks.
- The Comet to me seems like it has to high and availability given it's comparison to tanks like the Panther. It has more armor, a stronger gun, and comes in a much high quantity per card. I think it lowering it's availability to match the Panther of 2/4/6 would be slightly more in line.
17th Airborne - Overall fairly well rounded with just 1-2 suggestions
- Although the 15th Scottish is seemingly the main place to get churchills by this time there were also achilles tank destroyers which give those potent APCR shells for super heavies
- It would be nice if a couple other british equipment pieces were offered later into the game. Like a card of heavier British howitzers or some heavy AA pieces to give the division a more well rounded late game.
9th Armored - Just a small tweak to a unit that is currently hard to use.
- Canal Defence Light is very interesting but is hard limited by the tiny support tab. I suggest maybe moving this to the tank tab because there is far more room to cram one card in there.
6th Infantry Division - I think the biggest thing is that this needs to is to follow Bayerlin more and lock more of it's heavy armor late into Phase C. This division has really good infantry and artillery to back up that armor on top of probably the most insane air spam of any division which also probably needs some toning down
- Make the A39 Tortoise to -/1/2 availability so it's very firmly a late game vehicle due to it being so insanely powerful
- Make the Pershing to -/2/4 availability (assuming the previous availability nerf talked about above happened) so one could get them early is desired but overall you have less of them then before
- If needed a card of LVT-A4 from the 5th Marines could be added to Phase A so a little more armor is running around although I think it should still be very restricted for Phase A with what tanks the division can have.
- I would move all the superfortresses to be less available given their immense lethality. The 500lb bomb could be -/1/2, the 1000KG could be -/-/2, and the 2000kg bomb could be -/-/1. These are pretty harsh limitations but seeing how many other planes there are and how potent these are I think it overall is needed so spam is kept more in line
Forca Expedicionaria Brasileira (Brazil) - Mainly just a small tweak to the air tab
- The P80 recon plane is very fast but I don't think it should be 130 points. That is the most expensive recon plane by a serious amount. I would say something close to 115-120 would be more reasonable seeing that other planes like the F-5A is only 65 points for similarish performance (I know it lacks weapons but the P80 can't shoot down much due to low firepower and such high speed anyway)
5th Guard Tank Division - I think a mostly fine division with a more defined infantry weakness and very limited support options. However similar to 11th it's got some overtuned armor options IMO
- The T44 is pretty similar to the Comet in regards to it being a much stronger Panther with very thick armor and a strong gun. If it were to match the Panther availbility as well of 2/4/6 that would probably be for the best.
Partisans - The Partisans like the 7th SS counterpart sorta lack the armor to handle everything but to maybe a bigger degree and I think they need some more oomph in various tabs
- It would be nice to maybe add a couple more things from the Bulgarian side to shore up weakness. A card of Bulgarian owned Flak 88mm would be nice to give an AT more capable of killing Panthers and other heavier tanks
- In AT a second card of Pak 40s from the Bulgarians would give a second card of the ever useful AT gun
- On the artillery side it would be nice to have a card of on field Bulgarian 150mm guns for counter battery work. This is important as well to help deal with enemy AA so your planes can keep doing stuff
- It might be nice to have a T-34-85 leader card so you could get a couple of T-34s in B while also taking the tank rider ones in C for a large number of them
Sorry about the very long read but tried to be comprehensive in suggestions. Overall love the mod which is what made me want to write these thoughts down. Really does feel like an entirely new Steel Division game with how much has been created. Hope to see this mod get continued support in the future!
26th Panzer
- Ersatztruppen don't really have a place with only bolt action rifles. They just don't offer enough and they could benefit from getting something like a Breda 30 or MG15.
- The Italian 20mm AA piece cannot be taken in any transports. It should be be able to arrive with some sort of transport.
- The artillery tab gets very expensive and it could probably see the last two slots drop down a point from 4/5 to 3/4. That is still super expensive but would make it more possible to go super heavy into arty for like team games.
Kampfgruppe Bayerlin
- The Me262 bomber variants I think are also in need of availability nerfs as just 1-2 cards gives so many ultra fast bombers with fairly good payloads. I think they probably just need to lose a bomber per card so there are fewer of them around. Something 1/3 would probably be a fairly effective hit. The divisio needs strong tools like this but as said in my previous post bayerlin can kinda take all it's best tools without ever giving anything up.
7th SS Gebrigsjager
- The Ustase as a unit feel like they don't carry enough firepower to be justifiable compared to the various Gebrigs units. A couple more Beretta SMGs would be nice to give them a better niche as CQC.
- I talked about the need for AT above but it would also be very nice to see more AA. Just anything beyond the single 20mm flak guns would be so helpful. A card of Flak 88s if possible would double dip as AT as well.
12th Guard Tank Corps
- Oddzial Karny feel weird at 30 points. They obviously offer a lot of CQC power but need a leader to keep them in the fight and they compete very close with all the strumoviki. I think with how they are a single card and disheartened they could probably be 25 points.
5th Marines
- The infantry of this division needs to be powerful but honestly this division is so good at winning infantry fights it feels like there is no competition there. I believe most infantry with at least x3 BARs need to all go up in +5 points. This hits a lot of the infantry tab but their firepower is just so overwhelming that it justifies most of them being like 40 points is justified.
- At the very least the commando units need to be 40-45 points each as they are just ungodly to fight with how stacked they are.
- Demo teams I will note are also quite bad for being 25 points., They should be 20 points themselves which would give a cheap option compared to the marines.
