Speedrunning I guess
SMALL EDIT: I guess I might as well explain why this thread exists.
This is mainly just to be a general discussion of speedrunning this map series

Okay, so I decided that it'd be really fun to try speedrunning this series of maps, so here's my attempt at that

Now, I guess a few extra notes both about my run and in general for anyone else who wants to try out speedrunning these maps:
  • This run is specifically taking the ucomplex route to otherside, if we just wanted to get to otherside as quickly as possible, i'd just jump into the pit and that'd be the end of it. Personally, I do definitely see potential for optimizing everything else from a "Straight to Otherside run"

  • Voidplaces only has the route between the 2nd and 3rd vending machines be the craziest thing in the entire map.

  • ucomplex is honestly the one part that can ABSOLUTELY kill a run. I had to restart a few times, because of that god forsaken 10 hp flashlight trap. It's best to come here with your light turned on from Voidplaces.

  • White Complex definitely isn't as intense as ucomplex, though I did restart here a few times because of a few spots that can slip you up and make you lose time.

  • voidmall is simultaneously depressing and hilarious in a speedrun. Poor Inno is trying her damn hardest to get you to pay attention and stick around, but doing that makes you lose time. Honestly, it's a shock I guess that she's even capable of keeping up with you on the intercom. Anyways, voidmall also is why the ucomplex 10 hp flashlight trap can break your run. The fastest route I managed to find involves having to take fall damage at least twice, maybe it's possible to negate the fall damage on the first drop, but it's inevitable on the second, and you WILL die from it.

Anyways, there's absolutely some kind of potential I think currently for speedrunning. I do wonder where this series will go from here, but once it's over, I think it'll make for a interesting speedrun, alongside a pretty neat story.
