An "analysis" of the routes you take in this campaign.
The campaign first seen the light of development day from 2010. If you're following this with Street View, it's best to set the date to around 2009 and 2011 for a more accurate depiction.
Map 1
  • We start at 4 H St. The building right of the police car we gather resources from - Equipment 4 Rent Inc. - has since been demolished, but you can still see it around 2020 - 2021'ish with Street View (from what I could gather the lot will be turned into a residential area; you can even catch a glimpse of "NOBODY WANTS THIS" on a tarpaulin).
  • You then arrive at an intersection at 1 H St in which you turn right from. The small, elevated parking lot on the left has since been demolished after 2014 and replaced with an apartment building.
  • Moving forwards until we arrive next to a small path leading to the right. We should now be behind E4RI. The white building on the right is H.E. Moore Corp. The building with a huge front area on the left is Robert N. Karpp CO., Inc.
  • We proceed until we arrive at yet another intersection at 500 E 1st St. We then turn left to what seems like a half-circle platform with blue "ears". This seems to have been demolished in 2011 (as seen in Street view) and was replaced with a small garden/field of sorts. The path to First Street Park is still here, however.
  • We now head north to First Street Park. We arrive at the first compass.
  • Continuing northeast to what seems like a circled area with an info sign. This is where the ammo pile and some guns are located.
  • This path should continue to another compass, but the campaign blocks it with a wall in which you climb over (point of no return).
  • Turning right, we enter a huge generator area. Not sure who owns this area, but I'll assume this is FedEx Ship Center's.
  • We then traverse through the generator area until we see a building in the distance. This building holds some supplies.
  • Climbing over the wall, we should now be facing south towards a tent.
  • Proceeding through the tent, we should now be in 500 E 1st once more, facing what used to be the parking/storage area for a nearby building, now turned into a residential area for as early as 2013.
  • We now head east to an intersection. Now, it seems like there are more than one path to take here, but I chose to head forwards. Ethel and Randy's to the right.
  • We should now pass Greyhound garage on the right, and enter a dilapidated parking lot on the left as the road to the intersection is blocked.
  • From here, we traverse through the lot until we enter the UniversityWafer, Inc. warehouse at the side. This is where the crescendo event starts.
  • You open the door, start the event, and haul ass to Murphy's Law across the street.
Map 2
  • We exit Murphy's Law via the front door facing the intersection. Summer Street off north. E 1st Street on west to east. L St to the south.
  • The path branches here. You can take E 1st Street to the left or L St to the south. If you take L St, you should see a small billboard. It sits on a small grass yard where an apartment building was built on during 2013.
  • Arriving at the intersection, you should be turning left to E 2nd St. This leads to M St where the park's entrance is located.
  • The road to M St is blocked; forcing you to enter the house on the right (still here to this day).
  • The house itself is safe, which gives you enough space for a short break before moving forwards.
  • You should now drop down over a car at M St, right in front of the park's entrance. This will trigger the horde.
  • Immediately climb the stairs over to Medal of Honor Park where tanks are waiting. It's up to your team if you want fight or flight (highly suggest flight as it's dark and foggy).
  • Top half of the park is a playground. The middle of the park is a Vietnam Memorial.
  • The team should now be heading towards east of the park to E 3rd St.
  • We traverse a long road of houses until we arrive at a nearby parking lot to the right. This should hold some supplies for the team. This is the back lot of South Boston Catholic Academy.
  • We now arrive at yet another intersection. We walk a bit forwards until we arrive at a trailer truck blocking the way.
  • We are forced to turn left into a small alleyway to which a car is shining at. You might notice the building on the right with some scaffolding. This could mean that ShotgunFX planned this campaign around 2009, where the building was still in construction.
  • Entering the alleyway, we arrive at Grace Ct - the backlot of the building.
  • We scale the width of the court. We're supposed to exit Grace Ct to the south back to E 3rd St, but instead we cut to the left through some houses and through an abandoned building (this building has since been demolished since 2013 and was replaced with residential lofts).
  • We exit the building to 890 E 2nd St and face west back to Medal of Honor Park.
  • We travel a few blocks away until we arrive at a small side street to the right.
  • We climb someone's fence and drop down to their yard with a huge swimming pool.
  • We run into Nana's Special Sauce's building.
  • We traverse through the building until we exit the parking lot to the side.
  • Exiting the parking lot to 920 E 1st St, we head east.
  • Arriving at an intersection, we turn left to what is now Thomas J Butler Memorial Park (it used to be a refinery, but it has now turned into a port).
  • We enter a small building, the safehouse, and that's it.
Writing this was fun. I was flipping through different dates back and forth and seeing how much has changed throughout the years. It's like I went on a small trip; seeing the places in the game in real life. Kinda like an adventure, if you ask me.
I'm not sure if this campaign will ever be finished as ShotgunFX originally intended, but I hope it does. It's rare for real life locations to be in such a game like L4D.
