"Characters often have multipliers who would absolutely abuse this (wigfrid, wolfgang, wendy + abigail)" So as a base Wigs Battle Spear deals 42.5 base dmg and actually 53 because of her bonus. I understand the recipes are similar with driftwood in place of twigs, so maybe you decided to buff it because of that. I also think you shouldn't really compare to Kleis characters because recently they've made wack ass design choices and power crept a lot of their characters recently.
"Whiskey doesn't have multipliers" Which is exactly why I'm saying she shouldn't gain increased damage, every characters that has a damage mult works across the board with every weapon or a type of weapon (Screw Wanda in particular but she's still consistent).
"they just made Wigfrid have a better helmet durability if she's the one using her own."
Yeah, because she has a 25% passive armour increase, not because it's hers, but because it's a part of her as a whole. This isn't the same as what you're doing with Whiskey.
The weapon would still be really good with its current functionality, two unique mechanics, and a base 51 and 200 uses if uses exclusively on ocean mobs, that then becomes a 59.5 with 50 uses.
Thank you for reading this, very appreciated!
Whiskey was balanced entirely with Klei's balancing in mind, in fact this character was in development before Klei started this new direction of character skilltree reworks, saying I shouldn't follow the balance of the game and how they intend characters to be balanced is a little silly, specially because this "power creep" is entirely nullified by planar enemies and planar defense, mechanics entirely designed to make higher numbers even less effective.
and by Wigfrid's helmet durability I am referring to Hard Helm I and II, both skills that increase hat durability only for Wigfrid herself, I can go further and talk about how only Wigfrid can repair her Commander's Helm, the idea here is similar; It's Whiskey's weapon, it makes sense she would know how to use it better than other characters. What would invalidate this reasoning?
Your argument about "this only motivates Whiskey to benefit from it" also falls on its back, if Wigfrid uses crush depth, she would deal 74 damage, already beating Whiskey's 68, it's a valuable weapon on Wigfrid's hand regardless if Whiskey does 59.5 or 68, same thing about Willow on a burning target, only Wendy would deal close to 68 but that's not even counting the extra damage from Abigail which is required to reach that damage.
Crushing Depth needed this nerf, Whiskey didn't. So I kept this little boost for her.
Depth Perception and Crushing Depth combo were both meant to play similarly to the Cutlass and to the Volcanic Spear from Shipwrecked, I very carefully balanced it so that in land, it won't beat Wigfrid's spear while still offering a craftable tentacle spike alternative, and it is situational enough that it doesn't overshadow higher weapon tiers.
Also shame on whoever put the clown award, come on.
Want to say thanks for a such good and balanced mod character! :>
I am planning to play more on this character and looking forward to give more feedback :)
(and sorry if theres an grammar mistakes, English is not my first language)
I'm glad you enjoyed Whiskey, I took a lot of care when making her!
I have a few tips for winter sanity, the most obvious one being the Lunar Island, it is essential to her for Driftwood and Bull Kelp, but while there you can also easily gain sanity and get a few Glass Cutters to help fight shadow creatures.
Winter is the perfect time to hug a fire, so Whiskey can easily sail during winters for this task
But the best option for Whiskey sanity is by far food, since eating food doesn't get affected by her 1/3 sanity cut, good options for her are Jerky, Fancy Spiralled Tubers (potato grows on winter), a quick trip to the caves can give you Eels and Green Caps from mushtrees, if you got Eels you got Seafood Gumbo and Surf n' Turf, both are very good sanity foods!
If by this point in the game you got Bull Kelps set up, turn them into Dried Kelp, each gives 10 sanity.
Fun fact; since Whiskey cuts 33% of both positive and negative sanity auras, it means food sanity is 50% more effective (since every 1 sanity is effectively 1.5)
I'm going to be releasing an update for Uncompromising Mode and that's probably it for now.
I do have larger plans for future items and structures for Whiskey, but they are not necessary to her core, so it's not my priority.
Rest assured it's next on my list though.
