Why? on a small miner you don't need more than 6. Its the most efficient pattern. On a High Grav miner you may need all 8, but the area mined by each drill is now 1 block larger than in RE.

Its mostly to fully fill a miner CPU. You hit the top miner CPU with just advanced-supreme, still leaving two quantum 4 aux CPU cores.

Expand into dense ice/rich asteroid mining and the defences needed to deal with those sites? Oh, and I believe it is now 4 quantum's as well. CPU gain was halved and the max number doubled to give a smoother progression.

Except you can't mount those on an SV.. They're CV turrets. So you just don't need superior or above on a standard miner, but you will need superior on a High Grav miner because of the thrusters. You just don't need anything else.

Yeah, and defense against a drone consists of 1-2 turrets. You don't need a CV amount of fire power. Also I like specializing my ships.

If you use your CV, you are defended already.
Also, adding ice/asteroid turrets to SV is pointless. You have a CV variant that will be much stronger no matter what.

That was my own eye-brain disconnect; I was reading it as CV not SV for some reason.
