Purchase higher tier ammo
Can you buy higher-tier ship ammunition? I've found lower-tier options like Gatling and sentry ammo, but I can't seem to locate higher-tier ammo, such as 450 MW laser turret rounds, 200mm RIM-700b, or 40mm Flak. I've traveled extensively, exploring five territories and visiting numerous traders and hundreds of POIs, yet I haven’t come across these for sale.

***EDIT*** Found it... any friendly space station. But dang it's expensive. Can these be purchased from a regular trader?

You can craft the ammunition in your advanced constructors. But purchase wise you can buy ship ammo from npc merchants but it it is in very minuscule amounts as they don't hold massive amounts of it... that or they rarely do. Your better off using the ship services from the P menu or just mining the materials and crafting it in your constructors.
purchasing high tier ship ammunition is often not worth it when you can craft a very large amount after a bit of asteroid mining, in my experience. I remember blowing through around 1m credits worth of ammunition for a 500k reward in some combat zone, ludicrous. I've made my own most of the time ever since.

Definitely been crafting most of it up to this point. However, I have 3 million in the bank and spending 20k or 30k for a 10k rounds of ammo has saved a lot of time and hassle imho. Would be nice if I can find a trader that has the higher end ammo.

Just use station services.

they did explain how in their post but I guess the feature is a little bit difficult to notice. fly your ship up to a space station of a faction you're not hostile with, polaris/colonist/trader trade stations are usually what people use. while sitting in the cockpit press 'p' and there will be a green tab on the upper right that lets you access station services. here you can pay credits to purchase any kind of ammunition for weapons on that vehicle, as well as fuel and oxygen and such.

if you want to buy ammo for SVs/HVs, just dock them to a CV, bring it to the station and climb in the cockpits of them while in range of services and access station services using the same method.

I think it's great for lower tier ammunition but it does become outrageously expensive for higher tier ammunition compared to crafting it in my opinion. it often costs me about 1-2m to properly stock a well armed combat CV.
Helps a lot with prices to get to honored reputation. Generally I only make ammo if I need it during a battle. As for making money it's good to check work offers with traders, some of my favs are zirax weapon merchants for the large upgrade kit (90k) or the absolutely broken SV parts trader you can find on some Polaris trading stations. 2 medium laser cannons for 300k is ridiculous, he can also ask for 4 robotics (175k) and has great prices for buying SV jet thrusters.

Ammunition costs, and well, the monetary value of everything in RE2 is derived from the cost of the ingredients used to craft them.

If you're buying say... a CV Heavy Laser Charge, it's not an arbitrary value you're being charged. It's the 30 Elemental Pentaxid, 1 Dual Fuel Cell, 2 Aluminium Foil and 1 Energy Matrix's market price combined, then divided by the number of items crafted.
And there will usually be a cost multiplier for traders and station services that varies depending on the faction and POI settings in the playfield; Something like 1.5 - 2.0x market price.
