New Save Game
After some updates it is required to start a new save-game (start over) is there so much data missing from the saved game that it couldn't be edited by the player to add new areas etc. if that data was provided

Editing your save game is a good way to lose your save game.... The general advice is never edit your save file in anyway.

If you haven't left the starting system yet would you still need a new save to get the new additions outside the starting system?

Anything that needs a new save is marked as such in the change notes.
