bug or just misunderstanding
it literally just appears on the ground like the symbolic symbol you showed. The only options i saw was to haul but it said no accessible spots as there didn't seem to be an option for hijacked mechs in the stockpile menu. Is it not a right click option or am I just doing something wrong

Thanks for the report!
They should open themself without the player doing anything.
Already found the reason and applied a fix for the upcomming version (~ tomorrow).
A default setting was wrong for the 1.5 version.

It should resolve itself after the update, but if you don't want to wait you can change the setting yourself:
- activate dev-mode (in Rimworld own options under general)
- open this mods setting and uncheck the now not hidden option "Devmode: Debug hold mechspawn from crates"
- deactivate dev-mode (optional)
