Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2

Boston Blitz
Its a decent taunt, with questionable arguments against it.
After looking at the comments i had became quickly confused on some of the arguments going against it.

The idea this taunt doesn't fit scouts character is the most difficult for me to understand. What specifically would the scout not do? Would the scout not copy a cool move from a comic book or a film? Would the scout not be interested in sports like martial arts specifically at the time being stereotypically associated with powerful fighting techniques?

The scout has some references pertaining to Eastern asia or comics which would definitely feature some form of martial arts: Wicked Good Ninja Pack, Battin' a thousand(imitating nun chucks), Fan O'War(promotional in nature but still given to scout), Flying Guillotine(same as Fan O'War), Bonk Boy(comics), Sixties Sidekick(also comics).

P2W is a term being thrown around which i can vaguely understand, with my main issue being the Winning factor. The taunt roughly seems to have a 4 second duration with a 2.5 time to kill. This would put it the fastest taunt kill by total duration, with heavy's showdown being 4.3, but being just as fast as demos head swipe which is the sixth fastest(counting the stun in medics ubersaw) in TTK, meaning that the taunt has Slightly more potential to be spammed but it still needs more time to kill than the showdown.

Standing still in a fps game with complex movement mechanics is undoubtedly a terrible idea, it requires you to target oblivious victims or willing actors in order to kill someone due to its melee range as opposed to showdown which has a incredible range in comparison; In most scenarios this is a Pay To Lose taunt for trying to actually use it and not be obliterated.

The only criticism which i have more sympathy towards is the animation, the intro to the bow seemingly slightly morphs the body longer and the kick itself being too fast on the exit when the foot goes to the ground, this can very easily be a problem if its too slow making the scout floaty in animation.

I would prefer to hear elaborations in the reasoning to some of these arguments.

i am not able to read
More talk about the idea of purchasable tauntkills, it does inherently give a advantage over normal purchasable taunts via death dealing, but would be balanced with it still being a taunt with reasonable TTK and total time.

Since there is no standard time given its a new idea it could if left un-monitored led to all class purchasable tauntkills with TTK's of 1 or even .1 seconds of speed dealing 500 damage with heavies showdown range, all of which would undoubtedly give it more advantage than certain weapons such as revolvers, shotguns, pistols, etc. So classifying such as a P2W and prohibiting it from the game would be very reasonable.

But my issue is that the taunt is being fought over because it can technically be P2W and not necessarily being P2W, most of which i had gone more over in the main discussion.

Id actually want to give some ideas of why this specific purchasable tauntkill is more advantageous than certain weapons and can be considered P2W(since no one is actually discussing it in the discussions with much elaboration):
The only tauntkill scout has is weapon specific, more so balancing the TK itself; The only TK scout has(the homerun) is longer than both the total time and TTK of this taunt; The TK is unbound by any restrictions of weaponry and could be paired with any weapon variety giving it more use than the sandman and atomizer could have.
All arguments that had been given i Agree with and could be used to push against the taunt in its current form.

Continuing my bias for the idea of purchasable tauntkills, given there is no clear reference for PTK's(purchasable taunt kills) some sort of STC would have to be given some set of rules to follow to not encroach on the level of P2W, such as extending the total time and TTK of a taunt,
and restricting the kill area(showdown's length is downright nasty).

One idea which was given by steam user Silviocoqueiro is by making the taunt longer in time similar to the "Grand Slam" which i assume to be the yeti smash, such idea would more balance PTK's by making the TTK at 5.5 or 6 seconds, making it extremely charitable to active and oblivious players, being used more as a "friendly taunt kill", only really being able to kill participating players; Some other ideas could also be to at least currently limit the range of such PTK's, making them melee range only for the reasons of balancing since at the moment they are only hypothetical's and need testing.

can you give me a shorter version for idiots
The top post is just: scout would do something like this, its not necessarily P2W, and the animation needs refinement if not a rework.

the bottom one goes over the idea of a taunt kill that can be bought, with the issues that come with it while also giving ideas to mitigate it.
