Speedrunning
I decided to try and speedrun this map because I thought it’d be fun and interesting with this maps depth. I did two runs, one with another guy and one solo. My duos run was around 22 minutes, and 23:12 for solo. Sub 20 is definitely possible. My run route was basically speeding to get into the castle, turning on rampage mode on wave one is a very viable strategy but also it can be pretty tight because you’re gonna wanna use a well cooked grenade to kill most of the horde and if you mess up it’s a restart. I personally didn’t do it in my run since I hadn’t binded server kill and the restarts were getting irritating. I just tried to rack up points, round 2 bowser isn’t a big deal since headshots with the M14 usually results in a fast enough death. Once I get inside I talk to toad (absolutely essential) and then run to mystery box room to pick up a weapon. You’re generally going to want to get a weapon and stick with it, but if it’s especially bad you might have to reroll. Then I farm the Star while getting points to open the courtyard, and if I get unlucky I have to also go to the Tactiquilla Star, which I did in this run. It’s also important to check behind the Tactiquilla machine for a chance at the SM64 box for the shield. I eventually got enough points to get into the courtyard, and it’s important to be precise and fast for the boo key. The locations for the boos are: Near Boo Key door, down hallway to courtyard, 2 near speedcola, one in corner near door on speed side, one on the walls near the right, one on the castle, and one in the corner on the side opposite to speed. Once you hit them all it takes some time for the Boo Key to spawn, so I recommend picking up the mole to set up for a glitch later. Once you get the Boo Key, go down to the basement, feel free to hit the Yoshi egg for Africa, if you don’t have the points then you can go up to the door to farm points on dry bones. Once you have enough, open the doors for power, hug the left side of the steps for more consistent climb ups, then jump in the pool of water and drain the water and open the exit, then teleport out to the main area of castle. Farm stars until you have enough points to get Tactiquilla, which is very worth to detour for due to infinite sprint plus shooting while sprinting, then load the stars until the first bowser fight starts. If the round ends, wait for it to start again before enabling fight or else you’ll have to deal with 120 dry bones, which can cause problems and significant slowdown, and then if you have enough points, PAP your gun, or shoot bones until you have enough points to PAP, then just focus fire on Bowser until he dies. Once he’s gone wait for the key and painting to spawn, which takes a while, then go ahead and hop down the railing to go to basement to save yourself the hassle later of collecting those stars. You can also grab the bat in the deadshot room for the glitch later. Once you have those done and dealt with, go upstairs and pick one of the rooms to power up. As far as I’m aware, the N64 is guaranteed to spawn in one of those two rooms. Now, you might recall me telling you to grab the mole/bat later, here’s why. I found a glitch that can make the pedestals give you perkaholic without actually having to gather all the creatures. Place down the mole and bat, then interact with the rest of the pedestals in a random order, I don’t think it matters, except save the penguin pedestal for last. If everything works correctly, then once you interact with the penguin pedestal it should give you perkaholic. (Map maker if you’re reading this, please don’t patch this out) Now with your new perks, get the last star, then drag your ass upstairs to the clock room to deal with the stair on top of the platform. Once that’s dealt with, it’s time for Bowser Fight 2. Same strategies apply for Bowser Fight 2, but it’s good to exercise more caution due to the fact that several bowsers can spawn during this fight. If drybones spawn then it’s recommended to lead them to the star in the center to power it up a bit, since there’s a good amount of time between collecting the 2nd bowser key and the painting spawning, and the dry bones don’t spawn until after the painting spawns. Once you get the pop-up that you can escape, get ready to run to the basement as fast as possible to open the exit door, but it’s important to be shooting dry bones while running down since you need 25,000 points to finish the run. Once you do, that’s run. There’s definitely some optimizations to be made, and we’ve still yet to see if there’s some crazy out of bounds glitch or something, but yeah. If you try running this then I hope you have fun with it.

I’m gonna see if I can break my PB later today, I’ll post a screenshot of the end screen. Not really proof but trying to record with OBS just doesn’t really work

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was so close https://imgur.com/a/S9BLoiQ
I managed to hit sub 20, but barely. Also, realized I forgot to let you know when the run starts and ends. Run starts once the dialogue to subscribe to waffledews youtube channel pops up and you may not move until it does. Run ends once you interact with and successfully buy the ending door.
For context for my splits, Toad Talk is fairly self explanatory. Split when you interact with toad/once you hear him speaking. You can change this split if you want, just a personal preference thing. Boo key splits once you pick up the Boo Key. Power on splits once you activate power, but I'm usually too focused and forget to split it once I hit power, so my power splits are usually gonna be a lil inaccurate. Stars is also self explanatory, split once you get the text pop-up for the first star door opening. Bowser Fight splits once you kill Bowser. Nemesis is just Stars 2, just named it that for fun. That splits once you collect the star in the clock room. I accidentally split too early on this run, so it splits more around 17:30. Bowser Fight 2 splits when you kill the 2nd Bowser, and ending splits once you buy the ending door.
This run was pretty good, I decided to go for Wave 1 Rampage strat, which I'll just refer to as the Cooker strat. Missed my first grenade but managed to hit the second, and got a zombie cash from one of the remaining zombies, which was huge. Manage to hit Toad Talk in a little over a minute. The rest is pretty par for the course, but I went back down to basement on a mistake, and managed to notice a N64 rom that I missed, which was really serendipitous. I also learned something about the mirror room, I think Perkaholic only triggers if you jump and interact with the top of the penguin pedestal, so keep that in mind. I managed to be able to craft the Koopa shield, and I managed to collect the Bowser Fight 2 star fast enough since I started the fight with around 36 zombies left, and they spawned on the arena, so the star popped pretty fast. After I got enough points for the door, I ran like absolute hell down to basement to reach the door, and just barely made it.
I really wanna see someone else attempt this run, it'd be really cool.
